couldn't find it on there :( :( :(

4 by what, though?

EDIT: please tell me it's something normal like 4x100...I think I read someplace that it was like 4x135.2 or 4x81 to the pi power:thinking:

Most likely 4x100 I think, if it isn't you can just buy an adapter. They aren't that expensive since a lot of the old beetle guys use them all the time.

Wheel adapters are actually fairly expensive from what I have seen. My friend put M5 wheels on his GTI and it wasnt cheap.

The air cooled lug pattern is NOT 4x100. I repeat: NOT 4x100.

There is a "wide 5" pattern that is 5x205, and then after '68 IIRC they went to 4 lug that is 4x130. Both of these bolt patterns are specific to aircooled VW's as far as I know.

Even if you did manage to get 4x100 "tuner" wheels on there, you would have to get a wheel with the right offset and a tire that will give you the correct right height. If you haven't noticed, aircooled wheels are a RWD offset and take a pretty tall wheel/tire combo.

I have seen people take adapters and use Chevy lug pattern wheels, as the Chevy wheels are RWD offset and you can mount tires on that are pretty tall. You can also get a good selection of wheels in the aircooled bolt patterns. You don't want to use bling-bling baller-style wheels anyway, since aircooleds are old school it wouldn't look right.

so, in conclusion, stick with the stock wheels?

Those wheels I posted above are from EMPI and they are still being made IIRC. You can also get a set of Fuch's from an early Porsche, those look sweet on aircooled and have the same lug pattern IIRC.

The wheels on it are probably steelies, but there are plenty of wheel options for you.

you would get a much BETTER answer here (http://lovemybug.com/smf/) rather than on IA
