I say the GSR.

But my vote would be for a ZC and then turbo. You can get a complete swap for $750-$1000 then you got left over money for turbo. :goodjob:

well the reason i have the b20 up there is b/c it is a great engine to turbo... and it is a cheap swap

how much will the B20 swap cost ya? motor mounts, tranny, ecu everything...

gsr is pretty much the best all around Bseries engine, you can go N/A or boost easily, and it's fun as hell straight out of the box.

the b20z would be fun too, and you wouldnt have to worry about compression issues that much, maybe the cylinder walls.

IMO B18c1>B20z

 dont b20 have weak sleeves and the b20z has a higher C/R then the b20b........................ I say a no go with the stock b20 with turbo

also why swap in a 3rd gen b16. I hear it's the hardest of the b16's to swap in a EF, plus you got to dummie your engine down and smart'n up your car. (if you dont get that ef obd0 ->obd1, engine obd2->obd1)

bigdare23
05-22-2007, 03:29 PM
I say a b20 swap, but it takes a min to find all the parts (you will need a ls ecu, intake manifold, obd0/1 dizzy, and a tranny).

I would do a LS swap first, then save up and get the b20 block and swap everything you need for the b20 off of the b18!

{Oh yeah vtec is so over-rated, your dont get to use it until like 5000rpms LOL}

They cost a lot compared to the C1, yes. But worth it, definitely. But horsepower isn't the only thing that makes up a motor. All the stuff that the C5 comes with from the factory is worth all the money if you add it up. So what if it doesn't put out monster loads of horsepower. Matched with the suspension setups of the Type-R family, they're great factory road/backroad cruisers.

What it really comes down to is what the OP wants to do. If you're going boost, B18C1 all the way. If NA, you could do C1 as well, but if you got money, get the C5. [/$0.02]

why would you spend that much more money to get a little different crack and 35-40 HP?? i see your point on the suspension and shit but youre talking apples to oranges.

The Powertec RPA 2.6-litre V8 prototype number one or 'Christine' as Ted Hurrell now refers to it, (after the car from Stephen King's book of the same name!) has produced 363bhp at 10,300rpm on her second visit to the dyno. Maximum torque is 196ft lbs. at 7,000 rpm, but amazingly it is still 165ft lbs. at 4,000rpm and 180ft lbs. at 10,300rpm.

From a V8 that weighs 200 lbs. It's two Hayabusa motors put together. B18C5 FTMFL

They will put a B series swap in an EF for $600? That's kinda hard to believe.....

$600 for labor ONLY

you provide the motor swap/mounts/axles/etc.

Well leave the d-series in there, if you still have it in there, build it up, put a vtec head on it, and then finally turbo it. http://felix.tcecnc.com/turbocivic.htm
d-series ftw.
