i bought my car new and haven't messed with it, so everything is all stock. well, my car litterally jumps, it scares me, b/c it hessitates and then suddenly goes, it feels like i got hit in the back sometimes when i take off. i took it to a few transmission places, and they all told me, it's just a hard downshift. anyone know if this is the case, and if so what can i do about it? i was told the only thing i could do was buy a new transmission...

i don't know anything about transmissions, or engines, or cars really, so please don't flame my ass either.

when was the last time you changed your fluid?

your torque converter is having to spin to a much higher RPM than it should in order to clamp down on the driveshaft.

One day it'll just strip the splines on itself and not engage at all... it won't be a gradual thing. You'll think your engine exploded.

just looked it up 1999 is not a covered year. So more than likely you will not be able to get Honda to help much if any.

you might be able to get it rebuilt for fairly cheap or just get one from honda parts connection.

Sounds almost like it could have a bad trans. mount. It will bang like that sometimes if it is completely broken which could be the case if it is wrecked.
