I was thinking of getting some cams for my type-r. i want alot of top end power but not loose the drivabilty of the car. was thinking of getting skunk2 pro series stage 2 cams. has anybody had any luck with these cams. or with any other ones that are i a decent price range.

the skunk2 is a great cam. I would probably only go with the Pro1's though. With Pro 2's you would definately be needing some pretty big supporting mods to get the most efficiency out of them and would lose some of the drivability. IPS cams are great but are big $$$$. Talk to Mainstream Performance they are a Skunk2 supplier and can get some of the best prices around on Skunk2 products. With the Pro series you will have to get the Pro series valve springs and retainers as well. You will also need at the least a VAFC to tune with if not an obd-1 ecu to run crome or uberdata.

i have experience with the skunk2 original stage 2 cams, and i'd say the power gain is awesome, and drivability is somewhat compromised, but i know with a good tune, it would be real nice.

Skunk2 PRO1s, PRO2s are too big IMO for a stock motor.

WIth any PRO cam you will need valvetrain.

If you want to not have to change cams out, then do Buddy CLub 3+

Yea what Mike said about the Pro2's being too big. The Pro1's are nice but you will have to be able to tune the car. We put a set in a B16 and was almost impossible to get to idle. Pro1's have a very aggresive low cam so Vtec is normally moved up in the rpm range. Also, remember that if you want to take advantage of the top end gains you need to have a good header and exhaust to be able to flow enough. Later.

i remember that B16, he thought he bought Stage 1s! he still made 2xwhp over stock.

just make sure if you go with Pro1s to contact scotty an get it tuned

if you stuck on pro series cams then i would go with the pro 1 but your gonna need more supporting mods then you would with smaller cams. look around on hondatech to see what best suits your needs and goal that way you don't end up with a cam you don't like. i would persoanlly lean more toward rockets m22 bc4's or something in that range to keep midrange power up but not lose much top end, wityh the pro 1's peak power will be good but on a stock type r your midrange is going to suffer
