Depends. In some restaurants it is mandatory that the waitsaff "tip out" the bus persons and the cooks

Kani house, but damn thats alot of tips they are taking out of our pool. I didnt think of it as tipping out the cook. I just heard it goes to the boss. And plus the cooks are paid salary.

Like I said it depends on the restaurant. Every japanese restaurant that I have eaten at the tip is split between the cook and the server. It is possbile that your boss is taking your money. Me personally I would find out where my money is going.

damn 50% of your tips? Fuck that
I am not sure if its legal, but it's definitely screwed up. I would find another job waiting somewhere else if I were you.

hm..
are you sure the cooks are paid salaries?
I know my brother used to work @ a japanese restaurant as a cook and he was paid hrly + tips.
I dont see how taking the 50% would be legal.. seriously check up on that near your local labor department or something.. thats seriously fucked up if your BOSS is eating the 50%.
Which Kani house??
you know a girl name Jiyoung working there? haha

Usually servers do not get tipped while training. They should be paying you min. wage while training to compensate for the lack of tips

Dawg..I don't think that is legal...and aren't they supposed to be paying you the min. wage instead of 2.75 per hour?
I rec. you look for another part time job...because your boss is just taking your earned money....and you never know if your boss is doing this to you only, so I'd go ahead and ask another worker...
