View Full Version : Engine mount Insert ? help please

Alright IA Another question that i hope you guys can help me out on this one. I bought a insert kit from Prothane and i need to get the inserts in the driverside upper mount but i am haveing trouble getting it in but it is more then just an insert here are some pictures check it out:

Here is the Problem: the insert doesnt fit doe to that little sleeve on the on the inside of the actuall mount i think i need to take that sleeve out. does anyone have any ideas or has someone done this before and know what to do? PLease help :thinking:

put it in a vise and try to press it in just put some oil on it.

looks like you probably need a press...never really done one like that...what is the insert made of?

If you dont have a press available use grease.

Yeah I can use a press and yeah i will try grease, oil and anything else I can think of

And the inserts are made of polyurethane(how ever you spell that) basically really strong rubber.

Mix lithium grease (comes in a metal toothpaste looking tube) and liquid graphite (used to lubricate the tumblers in a lock) 50/50 in a small cup then coat the mounting surfaces of the insert. Use it everywhere something comes into contact with the polyurethane.
