Just thought i would post a journal in the life of a FD owner. I encourage every mazda to do the same. this is more for me than anything, just to have a reference point to go back to.

Wed May 3rd: Just got back from a week long cruise in the bahamas (much needed) :D took the FD out today since the trooper was in the shop for warranty work. Felt good being in the car again, heard a flubber type noise after i would spool up. checked with my mechanic and its probably a hose came undone. Witnessed a turbo'ed VW spank a modded Accord on the way home. I dropped into 3rd to get the bov going as i passed the VW. at the light he pulled up and asked some questions and told me i should come out the BP on pleasant hill on saturdays. told him i will see him around.

Wed May 09. 2006:

On the way home from work in the trooper. Tired. A long day at the office will do that to you. Had alot to think about between hitting the brakes in pleasant hill traffic every 10 seconds. "What am I doing? I already got 2 magazine features, several mag shots and over a dozen sponsors from my previous car, do i really need to take on this FD project?" ...............peeped a black infiniti g35 kitted up and deep dished. Reality set back in, woke up from my previous thought. ;)

Herblenny
10-09-2007, 08:38 AM
I used to have the V spec.. pretty much the same thing (made in Japan vs Taiwan).

With most fmic, you will face higher water temp. And also quite a bit of trimming with either stock or 99 bumpers. I just sold my v spec and went with blitz fmic. But to be honest, most upgraded smic will do just as good as these fmic. I like the blitz vs slightly better as air flows to the rad better and pipings are shorter.

Oct 11: drove the car home from audio installers, heading down p.hill around 8pm. I hear an exhaust 2 cars up. Since it was dark i couldnt make it out, had to get in for a closer view. finally came up behind it, a black 240sx, nice exhaust with gold or black rims. looked over at the driver he gave me a thumbs up and says "nice ride", i acknowledge his as well. i ask how many horses he has "its tuned for 310". i say nice and hope to see him around later.

Thur Oct 18: had a long day today. needed to take care of some last minute stuff on the 7. got ready to roll the car out of the garage around 11 am when it started raining, rolled it back in.
waited til it stopped 15 mins later headed to Sprayglo in lilburn (not buford hwy). they touched up my car from where the rock chips had got a hold of it going 85S to 316 one day. while they were doing that i jazzed up the dash with some carbon fiber. also they cut the extra piece from the rear fender flare so i wouldnt scrape the tires when i hit a bump or dip in the road. they also added the carbon canards on the front bumper. thanks alot to Jason and Matt at Sprayglo-Lilburn.

I did once and they touched it up, got overspray on the rest of the car, and I ended up just sanding it myself and taking it to a body shop that a lot of guys reccomended to me. They removed all teh body filler on teh car and fixed/reformed every body panel by hand (this was on a 1964 Ford), They even created a new rear quarter panel (which has a pretty intricate design) all by hand, looks like brand new. The paint job on the car looks better than any brand new car i've ever seen on a lot.

that car is my show car, and has a lot of sentimental value (been in the family since new), so it was worth the $$$ to do it right.

Haha, I will never understand how some people are able to devote so much time and money into a car and then turn around and sell it once they're finished. I put time and money into a car because I want to enjoy what I'm going to be driving. Others put time and money in because they enjoy spending time and money. Haha, I guess different strokes for different folks. Car looks great though :goodjob:, it's ashame you're getting rid of it.

yeah, it just that when i bought this this car i had a personal goal and once i had reached it i was going to sell the car. and i have now accomplished that goal. you should see what i mean early next year. on this car i really only spent about 3 months getting her ready. i let her sit in the garage for about 6 months before i actually did anything worthwhile. unlike my other show car i dont feel too attached to her. she is beautiful though. ;)
