approx, how much power would a b16 have w/ 7-8 psi boost turbocharged? i'm looking for whp figure.? and assuming it's all done and tuned by mainstream and all that good stuff. could it be around 220 to the wheels, or not that much. it's a obd1 jdm b16a.

a good estimate is 7-10whp/lb of boost. some turbo's make more and upwards of 15+/lb, but you usually won't see that on stock blocked street setups. b16 are 160whp at the crank w/ 15% drivetrain loss you can figure in the range of 135-140whp stock. with a conservative estimate of 10whp/lb and at 8psi you can figure about 80whp over stock so around 220whp give or take 10-20whp.

sounds pretty good. i'm just doing some thinking..of what i need/want my car to do.. how about the torque figures..that's mainly what i'm considered about if i'm going though with the 7-10lb of boost if i do it.? i guess it's 114 of something stock at the motor, how much wtq appox.? thanks.

scott tuned my b16a at 8 psi and mine only made 208 at the wheel.

thanks for the info, doesn't sound too bad of a number. i was hoping for around 220, but ahh.. how much wheel torque.? did you make

Not to spoil your day, but you might want to go ahead and change out the pistons. Cause the Ringlands on a b16 is very vulnerable to boost.

ahh. yeah. this turbo idea, was just an idea. probably not something i'd want to do, unless somehow i just mysteriously get lots of money..haha...i'm just doing some thinking for now. i really don't like my b16. it doesn't too do much. and it's slow.

You have to think ,its not that its slow. Its strong point isn't dragging, not used for torque(drag racing). It is more an autocrossing or something like that. To each's own

yeah. true..it's not all too bad. i used to have a gsr w/ some nice cams, and that was fun. and i'm thinking on going back to the gsr, or trying to make this one be like it... i do appreciate all the responses though.. i didn't think i'd have this much good feedback..i'll just have to do a 1.8L+ upgrade...thanks.
