Mods: PE850cc injectors, Topspeed fuel system, Perrin fuel rails, Topspeed GT35r kit, tilton clutch, TXS catback, Perrin FMIC, Crawford S3L block, Hydra EMS.

This car is still on stock intake, stock heads valves and cams. Boost was set at 30psi all the way to redline, I am sure if it wasn't so hot (95F) in the shop today DOUG could have broken the 600hp mark.

You should've broken 600whp on a built block. Cause people are getting around those numbers on stock block.

Sure is.. I mean because so many people break 600hp here in the states. I bet you can't show more than 5 people that have made over the whp we made. I also bet that the cars you will show all have ported heads, headers, intake, etc...

Tuning.... lol ... you guys crack me up. We don't build customers cars to blow them up, or break, or whatever. They last.

Question: You guys might build power....I'll give you that.....but what do you guys run at the tracks? I glad you don't blow up motors or anything else......but there are alot of shops out there besides you that make cars last.

Badazzcr
06-30-2005, 10:05 PM
I would love to run some of these cars at the track, however I do not own any of the cars I build. So its up to the customer to run it at the tracks, and honestly most of them are not drag racers. They just want reliable power, only car that has ever been run at the track is mine, and that was a long time ago. It seems every friday when I want to goto the track I am stuck here at the shop and can't make it. Sucks... like this weekend for example I will be traveling to Florida for a tuning trip, so once again I will miss a chance to take it to the track.

Doug

P.S. I too agree that there are also other shops here locally with very good tuners who can make relible power. The shop you use for example, I have never once heard anything bad about the tuning they do.

Tracer
06-30-2005, 10:09 PM
Well, Doug I think maybe you need to talk to your boss and tell him this info. if you feel that way. But what's the point of having all that power and not using it??? I don't understand......

Badazzcr
06-30-2005, 10:15 PM
I don't get it eighter, but some people just like having the power and not taking it to the track. I am the Boss, we are extremely busy I have very little time for myself. We are in the process of hiring another tech and sales person so hopefully I will have more free time. As for my feelings towards other shops tuning capabilities, thats just how I feel. Can't say the same about all the tuners at some shops in Atlanta.... but whatever fk it I will not loose any sleep over it.

Peace I am out,
Doug

You haven't even dyno'd, yet you are ragging on this guy?? I hate to say it, but proven numbers speak while "will have" doesn't hold much water. Wouldn't you agree? Why make fun of his numbers? What is the reason for doing so? Anything can happen and you know this. What happens if you don't produce 600+whp even though you "should"?

My advice: Give this guy credit, don't rag on him, and hope that you do better.

If your car doesn't produce the numbers that you are hoping for, I doubt that you will want him saying the same things to you. Am I correct?

For the record...Jason once asked who had the fastest STI in GA and the response was something like this (not a direct quote):

"That would be Dan with the white STI. He will be making the most HP in GA once it's done."

Anyone remember that? Just making sure before everyone gets off on a bashing spree on Jason. I would quote the post for you, but once the same thing you are saying, Ruiner, got said...the post got edited. Glad it's true...for now :) :) :) :) :) :) had to put extras so ya'll would know I was kidding :)

Either way! Great #'s guys. Maybe we can finally have some shop competition in GA. I understand that customers don't all like to race their cars. We have a lot of that...that's why we run our cars. So maybe now that someone is actually putting out some good #'s for once, we can race Giovanni's car or Doug's or Porter's car at the track :D That'll be fun for everyone. I hope to have my car back soon. We thought it would be this weekend, but as we all know...PARTS ARE A B! So maybe next weekend. I won't go as far as to speculate on #'s. I'll just pray that they are big :)

I can vouch for Porter's Jetta not being terribly fast in a straight line; I know as it was once my vehicle. The Jetta gets good gas mileage and uhhhh....yeah, that's about it. Old skool hand-powered sunroof. It does have at least 2 autox state championships in it though. Not bad for something that cracked 100k miles about 10 years ago. :)

Hydra is only scaled to 30.4 psi, and uses an internal Map sensor.. so you can not run more than that. Kinda sux, but we are in the works of trying to figure out how we can make it to run more.

I think the biggest obstacle to going higher than 30 psi is still going to be the block. It is built, but it is not a closed deck block. It has upgraded internals but it is still semi closed. The main reason I went with it is because I know the weakness of the stock pistons not so much to make stupid power. I wanted reliability. To get into the closed deck motors of 2.5 or higher then you are talking double the price.

Tracy

Maybe I will throw one of those semi closed decks together this week and see if I can break it. They say 30 psi is the limit, I think It will take more.

Since no, one else seems to have the balls to push it to its limits.(not directed at topspeed but to the subaru community in general)

We have noticed that not all water is created equal, while the normal tap water usually does not net any HP gains, we only use Blue Ridge Mountain water . Which on a good day is worth about 15hp. I have seen some of the more exotic waters such as Evian net up to 25hp gains but its just not as cost effective.

Clark from Kingpin has pushed the EJ blocks over 30psi and most of them tend to crack the cylinder liners at that level. Even with no Det the liners will split from the pressures.

Breaking stuff is fine... when its your own car. Not customers, I have not met many customers that have said "ok now lets push it till it breaks, just to see how high we can go". In all honesty there is not much point of pushing this car another 30hp when you wouldn't even feel the difference.

You proved that water is not much of a power adder (they said that it was a water sprayer)... but if it was alky (like I thought it was, initially) then it might be good for a couple more hp...and then maybe they could break 600.

It was a joke. PLEASE don't get all bent out of shape when there is no need to :)

haha,a lot of my friends (not anyone in UP) have cars that run mid to high 5s in the 1/8 (low 9s to high 8s in the 1/4). I doubt you know anyone that could run faster then that even mighty lemanz. Matt's car has been done since right after HIN. It's actually been to the 1/8 mile. I'll have my day to "talk" shortly. That's why I have been staying out of this. I know how ya'll like to get down. Jason and I will be ready ver soon.

Matt

well thats pretty much impossible if you are going to keep it a street car. I don't know who you have been talking too but even the race cars with large windsors that run hot street don't make that much power and they spin the motors to 9000+ rpm. You are going to need way more head then an AFR 225 if you want to even come remotely close. You should shoot for 600 hp in a streetable 408.

If you want to make 1200 hp on motor give Jon kasse a call. He can build you a 800 cubic inch pro-stock engine that will make 1500 hp. Hes up in norcross and does all the motors for IHRA pro stock. I mean you are big baller and stuff i'm sure you can afford what he charges for those mountain motors.

600hp, yeah thats cute, I can make that out of a 302 with afr 185s on it. I already have a set of CNC ported AFR 225s so I think Ill try those first. If those wont get me there,(which they will) then I will try something else. I know of three guys with 351s with basically the same setup I am going to run and they are making 1100hp.

I guess it all depends what you call a street car.

Bone Stock long block USDM 2.0 liter

Batlground GT30R Custom Turbo kit

Perrin Front Mount

Basic supporting mods

340 whp \ 298 tq ON PUMP GAS 93 octane Shell PUMP GAS

and im not saying those arent nice numbers but are hardly bragging rights since there is no proof. ive never seen a dyno plot. nor have i seen a time slip. except for that night in dallas. i know thats not the best that car has run. i know yall do some good stuff but wheres the #s?

The Numbers

I'm done posting numbers.

More about the kit

The kit that is on the car was the very first prototype, the one that is going on Jason New's car sits much lower.

There are better ways to run the intercooler pipes, however, Dan designed the kit to be bolt on, so that anyone that already has a frontmount can use it. He has talked about doing another version of the kit with an intercooler and piping that would be a much nicer fit. but you will have to ask him about that.

As for "backing up my numbers"

My numbers have been backed up, on pump gas which is all we ran the 2.0liter on it made 340hp at 18psi.

Did I run more boost than that yep, am I going to tell you how much power it made, nope. You could work with some basic volumetric effecincy formulas and figure it out.

Good Luck
Matt

The offer still stands, Ill be happy to race anyone in Georgia with a Subaru for a little cash.

The inlet air temps are lower with this setup than with my "bolt on 18g", so obviously the placement of the intercooler pipes is having a great effect.

:
im glad i doesnt have that bracket that connectes to the intake manafold like on the txs frontmount or you guys would have some fried stuff.:
Really, the intercooler is grounded, so once again you are wrong.

:
and im not saying those arent nice numbers but are hardly bragging rights since there is no proof. ive never seen a dyno plot.:
You have never seen a dyno chart because one of the moderators on Naisoc keeps taking them down.

i was just clearing up some generalizations that were made. but since you replied. you were very nice. and i "thought" you were informitive. i dont have a fast wrx so i dont care to race.

My numbers have been backed up, on pump gas which is all we ran the 2.0liter on it made 340hp at 18psi.
anyone can type numbers send me a link to a plot youve ever posted. and dont say plots dont matter. you talk about the subaru community being a bunch of pussies because we dont push the utmost limits. but then you dont share your info so peeps know whats a safe max hp for a stock ej20 longblock. i want big hp but dont have the money to blow my moter. why cant you share your experences since you have moved on to bigger and better blocks?

Oh, yeah that is a nice coating on the intercooler piping, I'm sure it holds the heat in very nicely.
again cant be any worst than the ic pipe resting on the turbo. i wasnt trin to pick your car apartin the above thread. just got carried away. i dont like to be told what i was doing by someone that wasnt even there. drooling was not what i was doin. asking quetions to satisfy my curiosity was my intentions. :D

So why is it that you are still talking Trey? You're kind of defeating your point by still talking. I've never heard anything about your car. Is it still stock?
You're just :blah: :blah: :blah:

YUP. All stock here. If you were into SCCA stuff you'd know why. :D

And you'd NEVER hear anything about my car, tuned or not, because I have no need to BRAG like some people on the 'net. ;)

BLAH BLAH BLAH. lol

You want to know whats safe.

Stock, stock is perfectly fine, then you dont have to worry about it.

Honestly, you can make 400hp, I dont know how long it will last like that I didnt blow mine up.

As far as turbo placement goes Ill have my new upipe soon enough.

This suby is done and I think its time for a new project, maybe a subaru for the One Lap next year.
