I'm a huge Calvin Johnson fan (I goto GT and he help me kill people in NCAA football for the past two years LOL). I just want to see everyone's opinion on how he's going to do he's first season with the Lions :( .

hes a top 10 WR in his first year, and i think drew stanton is gonna be QB this year for lions

He's not the best WR. Just watch the UGA last year were he got shutdown. Now, Welcome to the PROS!!!

i think he will do pretty good. not many people his size can jump as high as him, run as fast as him, or catch as well as him. being 240+ lbs, he'll be able to match up pretty nicely against grown men in the NFL.

i go to UGA and i didn't see him get "shut down." if tech had a better qb, we would've seen a much different game. CJ is considered by many analysts to be the best NCAA player in the NFL draft - even with a crappy QB, which says alot.

haha he's no superman, but i'd say he's very close to Terrell Owens (minus the attitude). he'll probably surpass him in no time.

Calvin Johnson will NOT be a to 10 WR this season. You do know that Charles Rogers is the Lions #1 WR right? That means that CJ won't be thrown too as much as he would like. He won't have the stats and no one on IA can tell you how great he is going to be.

Nope. You just had to point out a game where UGA was involved. I'm not saying CJ is a great player, but he definitely is far from shoddy. Could be a Pro-Bowler? I think so. Hail, Gail Sayers, Walter Payton, Joe Montana all had bad games here and there. So what? Later, QD.

He was wr of the year with the worst qb you could have. On any other team he was this years heisman :goodjob:

Reggie Ball over threw the ball, under threw the ball, threw the ball to the left and right of him, but he manage Wr of the year. That tells you something right there.................. thats he's a special player :goodjob:

I wouldn't say Ball was the worst QB. He has the talent, he just fucks up a bit. Needs more focus and training. When he's on, he's on. Reminds me of Vick in a way. Except Ball can throw. More. Now don't get me wrong, he isn't near the best, but he has potential. Later, QD.

Yeah your right, I was just caught up in the moment. Reggie did pretty decent for most of this past season until the Clemson game. After that game we get win some more games, but he wasnt on it like he was at the beginning of the season.

No shit. Nobody said anything about beating his touchdown receptions. At his current size, Johnson is taller (6'5'') and bigger (240 lbs) than Owens, while running at nearly the same speed. At the NFL Combine, he picked up someone else's shoes and ran for fun, in a measly 4.4. Check out this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXRqyjzyBRg) for probably one of his best career catches.

So he is going to catch a bunch of swing passes out of the back field?

I am not saying that he won't be good, but he is not just going to walk into the league and become great over night. Left him do a crossing pattern in the NFL and get his head taken off a few times before you label him the GOAT.

CJ is that great if his health is as good as jerry's he will break his record at 6'5 240 there is not a CB in the league to match up to him. throw the ball in his direction and he will go get it. That may be, but as of right now he is a rookie. Look at Vernon Davis coming out of last year's draft. He was the best TE PROSPECT in the history of the NFL draft. He didn't do too hot his rookie season. This is not to say that he will never be great, but you can't just hand him the title.:gay:

NFL Records
Rice held the following NFL records at the time of his retirement:

Regular Season
Receptions (1,549)
Receiving yards (22,895)
Touchdown receptions(198)
All-purpose yards (23,540)
Touchdowns (208)
Receiving yards gained in a single season (1,848)
Touchdown receptions in a single season (22)
Seasons with at least 50 receptions (17)
Seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards (14)
Games with at least 100 receiving yards (76)
Consecutive games with at least one reception (274)
Consecutive games with at least one touchdown reception (13)

Postseason
Games played (28)
Touchdowns (22)
Receptions (151)
Yards receiving (2,245)
Touchdown receptions in a single game (3, three times; 10 others have had 3 in a game once)
Games with at least 100 receiving yards (8)
Consecutive games with at least one reception (28)

Super Bowl
Receptions (33)
Yards receiving (589)
All-purpose yards (604)
Touchdown receptions (8)
Points scored (48)
Receptions in a single game (11)
Yards receiving in a single game (215)
Touchdown receptions in a single game (3, twice)
Points scored in a single game (18, twice)

THAT is the greatest of all time. Please tell me you people are not tr ying to give a rookie the title before the start of his first season?

The total TDs may not last very long, but the rest will.

The most consistant reciever since Jerry Rice has been Marvin Harrison. With 11 full seasons in the NFL, Harrison is still 527 receptions behind Rice. He is also 9,198 yards behind Rice. He has 122 TDs.

LaDainian Tomlinson has the best chance to break the total TD record. He is at 100 TDs in just 6 seasons. He would have to stay healthy for the next 4 years to do it.

The defense of the greatest wide reciever in NFL history rests, your honor.

It's true Calvin was shut down by paul oliver and a couple other CBs from UGA. Every WR or any other football player has good day's and bad day's. I know cause ive been there b4. Will he be good in the pro's? Not much can be said, well cuz he hasnt even been through his 1st NFL 2-a-days. Personally, i think if he stay's consistent and learns the ropes, he will have a very bright future in the NFL.
