^it will sure as hell be more reliable. i dont think its bad considering the beemer started out as a wimpy 318i.

People build up those 4 bangers all the time. They even make more power in racing trim, 320 hp all motor with a decent set of cams and pistons. If I were to invest any money into a motorswap in one of those, it would most definately be the old M5 I-6 motor with 336(ish) hp all motor, and then turn around and boost the shit out of it

Wow, way to ruin a good car. If he was going to do motor swap, he could have at least put an M50/M52 in there and if he wanted to get serious, an S50/S52.

i'm mixed on the setup. i think to keep it in the family, he should have gone with a m3/m5 engine, but i don't think thats what they were going with. Its like people who put a 2jz in a 240sx or s2k. Really it doesn't matter what engine you go with, its how you drive it. Its definitely an different setup for a bimmer
