I can't decide which to choose.. I have both setups...

GSR head w/ LS block

or

GSR head and block

which one is faster and which one will last longer.. so which is best overall? I heard that the ls/vtec won't last as long as the gsr..

cant beat a real 1.8 dohc motor or fuck vtec and throw a b20 in that bitch!

Yeah I'd go with GSR, I've heard better things about it, and is probably going to be faster.

But some can't get away from the allure of vtec.

gsr

i got if u goign to do that dont use a ls block ......... no point full gsr..

but if u want u could do wut i have in my car gsr head and a b20 block than ya . but i would go with full gsr swap ..

food for thought

generally people who go LS vtec
1.are looking for the displacement IF they have a b16
2.peeps that have an B18B, want vtec

now you have the complete gsr block and head. i dont see a point in considering a ls-v

I guess I"m the only guy who voted for an LS block with a gsr head... I've got a soft spot for the LSvtec...

i guess the extra 1/10th of a liter is just too good to pass up for me. :) Why no sell the GSR block and use the money earned to put better headstuds and rod bolts on the LS block?

gsr=more reliable and less of a headache.
An ls/vtec done "right" is just as reliable as any other OEM honda motor.

I'm assuming you'll be using a GSR tranny?

Done "right" or not, a hybrid motor or a motor w/ extensive modification will never be as reliable as a stock OEM honda motor.:goodjob:

If you already have a complete GSP long block I would run that and if you dont have anything at all I would get a GSR swap. That is if you want VTEC.

go for reliability... get the complete GSR engine.

EFlove

Reliability is directly dependent upon build and tune, tune, tune. I hear so many people in ATL say how unreliable ls/v's are. Why is that in ATL it is unreliable, but they run fine in the rest of the country. I personally am doing a ls/vtec, but my next build will be b20/vtec.

Mr2raceworks
03-30-2008, 01:02 AM
HA... no, ls or b20 block/b16 head is better

an Ls or b20/vtec leaking oil or being unrealiable is a USER/BUILDER error... lots of janky people down here.

cpearson

GSR all the way if you already have the setup...

black95se
03-30-2008, 10:44 AM
i had no reliablilty issues with my ls/vtec.

stock block
gsr head
type-r valve train
and DC 4-1 headers

that setup was redlined everyday for 6-8 months. :burnout: (with no problem) Then i junked the headers and replaced them with a greddy 18g setup. which also was redlined daily for about a year. :burnout: (buy redlined i mean 7800 rpms. even though ls bottom ends can not rev that high and still be reliable:rolleyes: )

It never leaked oil or smoked one bit. That is a year and a half of constant redline. I have a few people on IA that can vouch for how harsh i was on the setup! It ran fine till the day i pulled/sold the motor and shell. (sold it to buy a 240, now selling my twoforty to buy another integra lol)

To all the people that say it is not reliable maybe you should find a new engine builder/buy better quality parts! thats my :2cents:

P.S. that is why i picked ls/vtec ^^^^^^^^^

i've always been told ls is better for turbos and gsr is better for all motor so if all motor is your plan then I would say gsr.
