Well if you want to paint them you might as well clean them beforehand. I use Simple Green to clean my wheels, you can get it at places like Home Depot (in the cleaning supplies section) Its pretty cheap too.
man simply green aint gonna work on this stuff.. its like hard ass dirt, stuk in the inner spokes..

Use strait Zep industrial cleaner, or purple power, like, with the cleaner to water ratio being like, 4:1. It will clean anything, I used it mixed like that to clean the undercarraige and motor of my coupe. and with a pressure washer, it shined like new.

I don't see how Simple green works on everything for you, Magius.
I use that Industrial degreaser/acid. It's basically either the green stuff, or the clear stuff.
That acid will remove ANYTHING. (Including your skin.)

Because the cars I buy are usually clean in the first place. I don't buy cars that have a bad history or owners that didn't clean it properly. That way its in good condition when I get it.

it looks liek rust, but if u scrape it, it will come off. i tried to sand it over the weekend, but its too many spokes and tight areas. And my power washer wont spray... so i couoldnt use that. might just have to one day sand it all off.

Just soak it, continuously spray a mild degreaser on it over and over (ie. hot water and simple green 50/50) then use an old toothbrush to scrub it with...

I agree that simple green is really good. If you ever want to get them redone, there are places locally that do that too
