So i finally ditched the Enkeis and my grilfriend (JennB) traded in the MINI for a beautiful 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata. So tonight we took a few quick pics of the cars. It was a little on the late side so most of them didn't turn out so great. Also went to The Dragon on sat. and snapped a few pics while ata Fontana Dam.

yes the Miata is my DD, has been since i got her. I wish i could afford a cheap 2nd car, but i can't at the moment.

Chris - i take p.hill to some little road the cuts over to p'tree ind. (comes out by QT), take that to just past Sprayglo , hang a right , make a left over the RR and take that all the way to work. Seems to be the best way of the few i have tried. Taking Old Norcross to where it turned in to blahblahblah Bridge road takes too long.

thats the same way i go... but do you go to the light at spalding and 141 when going home??? if you make a left onto triangle parkway/rd/st??? the road next to my work... then right at the stop sign. cross over 141...cross over ptree ind.... then right onto S. Berkley Lake Rd.... it takes you to spalding where you Cross the railroad tracks next to buford highway by spray glow..... avoiding all of the traffic on spalding rd

i've tried that a couple times. i usually end up taking spalding to where it turns into s. old p'tree, make a left on p'tree ind., go past s. berkley and make a right next to the industrial building and cut over to the road that comes out closist to sprayglo and make a left. So wait.... thats you i get behind now and then right @ spalding and 141?? Work right across from the post office?? You work like right across the street from me lol, im off engineering drive.

Thanks guys for the compliments :)

yeah thats me.... i see you all the time. the reason i asked is because that one time i saw you pass my work... i never actually pulled out of there until about 5 min later and managed to catch up to you. must have just been the traffic that day i guess. there are some cool spots for photos in that area.

Well.. umm.. I like them both

Anyways, I was ready for a change and it was time to get rid of a car that was giving me a good bit of trouble. I had an 04 MINI S and got the 06 as a replacement once it had some problems. I've learned my lesson this time. Little things were going wrong that should not have happened to a little BMW with only 19,000 miles on it.... actually.. I think it had been in for warranty work at least twice before it even hit 10,000 miles. Then, it was hit in my work parking lot a couple of month ago (my 04 was hit twice... and I got rid of it at 13,000 miles) so I started to have flashbacks of how much trouble I had with that car. Add to that some very mysterious damage to my rear suspension that would have been about $600+ to fix and I was done.

MINIs are really great cars, they drive better than and FWD car I've ever driven and can easily hold their own against almost anything on the road. Mine was modded and I had a lot of work done to it but it came down to a question of how much trouble it was worth. I always said I'd never own one past warranty because the repairs are just insane. Then there I was with an 06 that already had an airbag sensor go bad, door handle mechanisms replaced and still not working right. Sure, it was all repaired for free but still a pain to deal with. I was paying far too much for something that was just annoying the hell out of me. I love the way it looked and the way it drove but oh well.... I expect more from a company like BMW.

Anyways, it was time for RWD. I considered moving up a step to something like an Elise but I need to buy a house soon and be a little more conservative with funds until I have that accomplished. I figure I'll sacrifice a little now to be pretty damn happy in the future. Once I own a garage, it will be time for more toys to fill it.

So the MSM fit the bill.... factory turbo... very easy and affordable to mod... convertible... small. I drove one and loved it and started a search for a black one like I wanted. Other than the quirky reliability of MINIs, they are also very expensive to mod. Example: MINI intercooler upgrade $900, the front mount I'm buying for the MSM $100. I had hit the 180WHP ceiling with the MINI and going any higher was going to cost a lot. With the Miata, I can be at 200RWHP with maybe $1000 and with about $2000 more I'll hit about 240 to the wheels.

I've never owned a 4 door car in my life, I love small and nimble cars and this one seems perfect for me.... plus it's pretty darn nice to have a car that the person I live with can teach me a ton about and do pretty much anything I need done to it.

They actually drive amazingly well and have some really great features. Mine was pretty darn quick. I know a ton of people who own them and have no problems at all, MINIs just hate me. But oh well... I'm really enjoying the new car. I guess it just depends on what kind of flaws people tolerate, some people don't mind a rattle here or a squeek there, I do. The problems I had with my 06 were all small things, but still required a trip to the dealership to fix. Yeah, I got a loaner car and never paid for a penny of repairs or maintenance but still, I have no desire to go to Global Imports more than once a year.

Personally, I don't think many flaws at all are tolerable on a car that is in the price range a MINI is.
