We are modifying cars to make more power than they are suppose to. If every shop out there warranted a blown motor because they are modified beyond stock power levels, EVERY SHOP WOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS. There are way too many variables in the game we play to even comprehend the consequences. We all do it for fun and we learn from our mistakes.

Sometimes I think people that don't know shit about cars shouldn't be even touching them. Maybe stick a K&N on their Honda and call it a day. It is not a shop's duty to educate the customer on how an engine works and what to look for. They can only do their best abilities to make sure the customer is forewarned.

Tank, I don't know who's fault this was but from the outside looking in.... It sure sounds fishy. How could you not smell coolant? It has a very distinct smell to it.

Also, blowing up a motor doesn't necessarily fall on the person's shoulders that built it. I could jump in a fully built car and blow the motor. Does that mean it is the fault of the builder?

Knowledge is your biggest enemy right now, or therefor lack of. I would do a shit load of research on the Supra and then try rebuilding it again. I did research on the Evo forums for about 2 years before I even bought the car and started building it.

Don't expect it to happen over night either. Building a high horsepower car takes time




So, let me understand this a little better.

1. Speedometer doesn't work?

2. Temperature gauge doesn't work?

3. RPM gauge is off by as much as 1500 rpms?

4. Tranny doesn't won't allow it to go over 119mph?

5. Limited by the gear?


I'm not taking sides, but it sounds like you were too stuck on buying parts to make your car "go fast" rather than buy the parts to fix it and monitor it.

Sinking all that money into a car without being able to monitor things like temp, rpms, and egt's is dangerous. Thats just asking for trouble.

Hell, I don't even trust the stock temperature gauge as they can be off as much as 60 degrees. I learned my lesson in a previous car when the stock gauge read everything was normal, but the aftermarket gauge read it was running too hot.

Tank started a thread on Supraforums, posted PRIVATE MESSAGES I SENT HIM, and he then tried to insinuate it was our fault. All of this after we had DETAILED discussions with him about his car and what we think happened.

Tank may have not directly bashed me or the shop, but he hinted at it. Someone said "check the thermostat" and he says "I had a new motor, they didnt check the thermostat, it was their fault" is pretty damn close to pointing fingers. the problem is, tank doesnt know the difference between a thermostat and an oil filter.

WE REPLACED HIS THERMOSTAT WITH A BRAND NEW UNIT, with a NEW GASKET. So his claim of "mainstream didnt properly check out my thermostat an thats why my motor blew " is complete an utter BULLSHIT. Again, for the last time, his CAR NEVER OVERHEATED ON OUR DYNO EVER or during street tests. He simply put the car in a situation i could not duplicate, and it got hot, he chose to drive on it tell the car melted down. Even now he is LYING, he told me, Rob Farley, Erin , Turbo Dave that the car "STARTED SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, STARTED MISFIRING, I KEPT DRIVING IT". The car simply did not just magically, SHUT OFF like he claims.

He has also denied having to pay us storage, well here it is folks:

This shows his 1BAR AF/Ratios versus his higher boost. He would have drove on the street right at 420whp, the 467whp pull was done witha vacuum T and the a/f ratios were mildy tuned, but as you can see , they are RETARDED rich, so he should have no way to blow his motor up:
