over mtx of audiobahn i would honestly have to go with audiobahn as far as their mid line subwoofers to me they have a more responsive sub imo.... i put these in cars everyday btw...

nice..
I've got 4 MTX thunder 6k's with a 1600 hifonics mars amp. Every audiobahn sub that i've bought has locked up. It never fails, I'll have it for 2-4 weeks and the damn things either blow, or lock down. :tongue1:

Personally I don't like either. I have had Mtx's and Audiobahns and they suck. I would prefer either a Rockford Fosgate or Diamond Audio sub over the two....also I kinda like Kenwood. I have 2 Kenwood M Series 10's in my truck now....soon to be putting in 2 Diamond D1 10's. But to each their own....

Alpine type R if you are looking for something that is decent

go with jl's, mephis audio, or the rockfords. in the end ull wind up spending less for a good sub then more on a few shitty ones that will blow. just my 2cents

Id go with MTX. I had a 4500 series 10" that had a higher spl than 2 punch 12", in the same car. MTX was a VT box and the punches were sealed.

if there were different boxes, then you are comparing apples and oranges. i personally dont care for any of these cheesy brands. try looking at DD, RE, Adire, MMATS, and other real brands like those.

Of thiose two, MTX, no question. Audiobahn is proof you cant polish a turd, it has to be chrome plated.

I wouldn't go with wither one save my life. I like JL audio sound quality wise. And kicker for fuckin up ear drums, and like. Also for the price pionner premiers sound. Hope this helps.

For the $, Polk Momos are hard to beat, also the Rockford p3s are nice, and less expensive. In the end, I am always wantin Diamond Audio, SQ, SPL, and very durable.

Fair enough. I can vouche for some rockfords. After my MB Quart voice coil blew Rockford sent me the Titanium Power Series T1. It hit surprisingly well, but I am not fond of the look so I sold it. For the prices those are going for these days on the internet I would suggest it.
The older alpine type r's are a good choice IMO.
As for JL you have to pay to play. They are good subs, but omexpensive.

audiobahn ftw.

Hard hittin is easy, sounding accurate is hard. I have seen so many Pyramid filled cars flex the roof, but it sounds like crap doin it. SPL is fun, SQ is expensive, and most people wanna be somewhere in the middle. So enjoy you Audiobahn, its in no risk of being taken by me.

If I had to choose between the 2 I would pick MTX without even thinking about it. I would rather have no sounds at all than put in free Audiopawn gear.
If there were more brands to choose from I would still take the MTX 9500 over ALOT of other subs. In the end I will I didnt sell my RE XXX's though. It was seriously one of the best subs ever made in its price range for SQL.

to be honest ive had a little bit of everything...had 2 12" Audiobahn Dub Series subs with a 1200watt SPL amp and i killed my friends MTXs...however i had 2 12" Cerwyn Vegas that ive never heard anything that hit so damn hard and clear...they can be hard to find so for the money id go with Kicker or Rockfords...

Money may be short and gas is high, but when it comes to subs, save up and get a good one. I personally like JL Audio. The bass is tight and accurate. Just my 2 cents though.

I think all you need is 1 15" MTX 9500 and you will be good to go.

you do know that at least 85% of a subs performance is dependant on the enclosure dont you? Blanket statements like that do nothing more than show a lack of knowlege on the subject.

I'd say audiobahn, i had 2 10's in my car for quite a while (2 or 3 years) and they sounded super clean and crisp... and i had some kickers that werent bad, but my Infinity 12's are super sick.

wow I can honestly say this is the first time I have ever heard someone say an audiopawn sub was "clean and crisp". Then again this is comeing from someone that thinks an infinity sub is high end.

i say MTX.. get 3 10' mtx .. bumps alot more than 2 15' kickers.. not saying the more speaker the better.. but sometimes its just the car and how much power you put into it.. i had 2 bazooka tubes and a bazooka amp.. i forgot how much i was putting out but it bumped nicely especially inside a 79' 280zx

its actually mostly the enclosure. subs, power, vehicle combined make up about 30% of a subs performance. The other 70% is the enclosure.
2 bazooka tubes and a bazooka amp didnt bump. It distorted, popped and fizzled maybe, but it didnt bump.

I got 2 alpine type R's and they hit pretty nicely. They are in a box that is too small for them though so they are not as loud as they could be. Then again its in a single cab truck so its kinda hard to get space. Ive heard some pretty loud kickers though, I would stay away from kenwood amps though, they over heat too easily.

which subs do you prefer overall??
both are good and over priced mtx will last longer. but if you want something that will last, cheaper, and, sounds cleaner try memphis audio. I work at a car audio store we sold mtx they brake easy. they came back alot. audiobahn way over priced. with memphis we never get complaints. just alot of return custermers for dynomat. ha ha

MTX are actually one of the more reliable and sturdy subs out there

just put 2 m-class mojos in what ever with a mojo amp and you will be very happy but really get dynomat or your trunk will fall off. but if you are set on one of the two get mtx
