My girlfriend wrecked her jeep teusday, An old man pulled out in front of her, he admited fault, his car (buick) and her jeep both had to be towed from the crash site, I understand that it is the insurance companys decision on if her jeep is totaled or not, but what I'm not understanding is this....

The jeep is leased, for 4 years, we had full intention on buying it at the end of the lease. The jeep is an 04, we had it 3 years and still had 1 year remaining on the lease, it has 70k miles, we were allowed 48k miles on the lease agreement, we went way over which was the reason we decided to purchase instead on turn it in and pay them a lot for mileage penalty. The question im having is being an 04 with that many miles, if we decided to turn in it and pay the diffirence because of the miles, the dealer will not take back a previously wrecked car, yes or no? I dont know anything about the whole thing really, so hopefully they total it, (it dont look totaled to me) so whats everyones opinions on this?

and YES we have gap insurance

also, the airbags DID NOT deploy....she hit the fuck out of him and no airbags...whats up with that?

Is there frame damage? I know someone who rolled a grand cherokee like that on its side and somehow it wasnt totalled so you never know. GL with it all.

i dont know....the damage really doesnt look that bad, pics or in person, she was going like 60mph and he was dead stopped, so it was quite an impact im sure, the value of the jeep is right at 12k, and we still owe like 14-15k and im sure the damage isnt no where near 12k, Like I said, I dont know how all that works, all I know is I would rather waste 20k down the drain which we have already paid that much on it and just total it so we aint gotta pay 500.00 a month anymore, fuck it Id rather cut my losses now and just go buy a 2-3k cash car instead of payments every month, but its not my decision

lease=worst idea ever

i worked for geico out of college up until last january, spent 2 yrs in claims, but i dont think i ever ran across a time where i had to contact a dealer on a lease vehicle that was wrecked.....i might have but i just dont recall...either way, check the lease that she signed, it should give details in there regarding accidents

I talked to my sales manager and he said if the car is fixed properly and they don't find anything after the inspection when you turn the lease in you should have no problem. As long as they did not total it.
