This weekend I decided I could live like a grizzly bear. Christine came up for a visit (she had Good Friday off as a company hoilday- lucky girl). But it worked out well, since her car just hit 100K and needed to go for a service check. We met up with some friends and headed to Atlanta for the Braves game. We headed out around 5pm, hoping to get there early to watch them warm up and possibly get a signed ball. Unfortunatly with traffic- we didn't get to the statium until after the 1st ball was tossed. The game, although the Braves were behind the whole time- was very fun. Christine kept cheering for both teams. She's such a girl sometimes. It was really cold Friday night and we wore sooo many layers. But after a few handfuls of boiled peanuts, beer, and a super nacho- we were great.
Since we hadn't had enough cold on Friday night, we decided to continue with our plans to go climb Mount Yonah. Friends of ours came and picked us up around 8am and we made it up to Mount Yonah (close to Helen, GA) around 9am. When we got to the parking lot it was 34degs and 15-25mph winds. We made our way to our first cache, (just off the parking area) but were unsucessful, so we started on our hike.

The plan was to travel to the top of the mountain on a 5 mile round trip. We took a break about half way and found a beautiful look out spot (it was actually an emergency landing spot for a helicoptor). We continued to the top of the mountain (passing an Army training spot). Once at the top, we looked at the valley below and noticed we were standing at the edge of the rock face we had seen from below. We continued on the trail, the ground crunching below us from the frozen ice.
We were able to find the two caches that were at the top of the mountain. But even if we hadn't found the caches, Christine said the views were worth the climb. :)
After our 2.5 mile trip back down the mountain trails to the car, we met back up with our friends and headed to Helen for lunch.
Here are some of the pics that I got on the hike!
