the h23 has a soft block for some reason if you want boost get a single cam f22b1 i think it is for the block and the iron sleeves and the jdm dual cam f22b head and it will be perfect for boost and you pay nothing for the sleeve work

no they have the same rated torque. just do the h22a, its a much nicer setup with a better valve train.

boost the F22, you'll get you're money's worth and be much happier imo. Just weigh out the long term costs and your goals. :2cents:

fuk the boost, go H22, then spend about another grand on evolution's H2B kit, and bust 12s all day. Basic breakdown.....you could spend about 3k for a decent turbo kit, then the cost of tuning etc. Or you could spend 3k for a complete h22 swap and H2B adaptor kit and bust ass all day long. Search on honda-tech. STOCK (OEM HONDA PARTS) H2B swapped cars break into high to mid 12s consistently all day.

Actually bro the EVOLUTION h2b kit is for the eg/dc chasis only. And can be modified to fit the ef. There is no h2b kit for accords or preludes. Even if there was there would be too much trouble to go through with the kit. And h2b's run high 11's with the right bolt ons. The basic I/H/E h2b runs mid to low 12's with a good driver and slicks. and high 11's with a good driver and a few more bolts ons. You are right partially though. But they bust better times then you thinking if you have the right driver behind the wheel. :D

boost the F22 /f23 with a h22 head.... it'll be a 2.3vtec with some nice stock cast iron sleeves...and if you want to install forged pistons...just drop some K-series pistons in...same bore size i believe

^^yep there the same :) im using s2000 pistons in my h23 vtec setup.

Damn that H2b sounds pretty bad. At first i doubted it but now i am considering it. It sounds like it is comparable to a "K".

I wouldn't exactly say comparable, because the H2B is suppose to be the k-killer.

The h2b against the k stock for stock the h2b will come out on top. And usually the h2b still comes out on top. There is a thread on honda-tech where two vx eg hatchs ran. One with a k20 I/H/E tuned (207whp & 146trq) and one with a h2b I/H/E tuned. (211whp & 166trq) The both had the same tires and the h2b hatch was a tad bit heavier. Well i believe the h2b was like a 12.2 best and consistent 12.4's and 5's and the k20 ran a 12.7 best and Consitent 12.9's and 13.0's.

ha ha....you need to do a little more reading around. on the accord boards there is a guy who pushed his stock motor to 30+psi and had no problems running it for 8 month...he finally took it out to do his engine swap.

I know I'm not going to waste money on swapping and engine (h22) and then building it internally only to be able to turbo it over 8psi...then have to worry about it...

To answer the original question: IMHO H22. H23's rods and crank are brittle compared to their H22 counterpart.

As for all of this K vs. H vs. H2B debate.. honestly, K. The biggest reason is the cylinder head. The K-series head is so far ahead of the B/H-series heads its disgusting. That's where the peak power comes from, the .2-3 liter advantage for the H will just provide good torque and strong midrange, but then again.. the VTC helps bring up the midrange on the K.

So far the highest NA K I've seen has been a little over 360whp 230wtq.. Compression and headflow mean everything on a all motor engine.. B/H motors cant dream of flowing what a K head has been doing.. and the K is still in its infancy.. B/H has been out for about 15 years now, they're STILL making new things for them (Hytech with the new rocker system for the B)! I completely believe the K will be doing 400-450whp NA in the coming 6mo-2yrs.

H2B is all about gearing.. H22, H23, F22/23 xmissions suck gearing wise because of the larger motor producing enough torque to pull the car with a longer gear (think from a stock car perspective) B series cars are lighter but their engines are smaller as well producing less torque (ESPECIALLY IN THE B16's CASE!) shorter gears bring the engine up to its powerband quicker.. whoever came up with the idea of doing the H2B deal is a modern genius.. but with more and more NA K's getting into the 10s and 9s... theres no denying that a NA B/H wont stand a chance eventually.

i agree k is a great plat form...but there's so much about the h-series most people dont know...like all the rods and cranks and shit are interchangable..K pistons work in H's. There's a person with a shop on H-T who built an OEM BUILT h22 with a f23 crank, rods, and s2000 pistons and a stock euro r head with some bolts ons...making 271whp 211trq. That's with basic CHEAP oem parts...the person had like 800 in the build...plus the h2b kit and someone donated them a crx hf shell for the project. But im not a REAL familiar K guy so i cant aurgue to much about them. There both GREAT motors. But the K cost a shit load more!

Got a link to that ? Thats something I would really like to see-- its hard for me to choke down a 13.5:1cr H23 with a H22 head with some mild port work and stock cam passing 220-230whp much less a setup with roughly 12:1cr making ~270whp..

K stuff is high mainly due to the constant R&D going into them.. again the K's are still in a infancy/beginning to mature phase. The technology is awesome, roller rockers, modular block, the compactness of the head.. comparatively B/H stuff has been developed to near its boundaries, much of the stuff has already matched its boundary about 5 years ago and the R&D cost has been recovered so the prices have been reduced due to competition producing cheap knock offs.. which really isnt hurting the larger companies since all the money they're making now is profit minus machining, materials and labor. K prices will fall eventually.. B/H stuff will go into the bargain basement... well except for the stuff that's one off or custom production... I'm in the planning stage of my C series build and you're talking about 50% of the stuff having to be custom or one off.. but hey- price to pay to be different

ok there are big motors out there. Highest NA motor h22 i have seen is 375hp. and 335 whp on pump gas. They are strokers and well not worth the money but yes they do exist. here is the link to them http://www.pocketrocketsracing.com/hobkse.html

i just can't see paying that much for a motor.
