fun ride man... it'll all be worth the work once you get out and drive it :D.

and what do you need suspension wise? if you're looking for an alignment i recommend GranTursimoEast, great place and great work.

i need to have it inspected. the reason the project started is because the oe brakes got too hot and i was forced to drive over a curb =\. i've replaced a few of the obvious parts (lcas and struts) but i want to have it looked over to make sure that the rest is ok... the passenger rear i'm having some doubts about. once that is said and done, i'll have the alignment done and have some fun. i miss it.

edit... i also have a pair of jap spec fenders ( with the sidemarkers ) i scored for 100 dollars. i needed one anyway, so i figured i'd just sell the one i bought already (car needed two) in favor of these... fenders for 50 bux a piece... nice

the motor does have a little head work done to it... 3k miles on the motor itself. once it is driveable, i hope to get a little more invested in it. itb's and higher compression = yes. trying to get about 250-300hp all motor... shouldn't be too hard.

thanks everyone for the compliments, btw.

you're dreaming man. 200hp alone is VERY hard, 300 all motor is a pipe dream. hell, on the miata over 200 is extremely hard to make without running race gas everywhere you go because at that point you'll be running super high compression.

200hp is more than enough for that car, but for an all motor setup it's just not realistic with that engine if you want to drive the car every day. now if you're gonna turn it into a monster miata then 300 all motor is no problem ;)

i've still got a ways to go before i actually start building on the motor, but i think that it can be done. i don't plan to drive the car daily, so we'll see what happens. first i have to get this stupid suspension in order. bah

You can call a "RaceWorks". The specialize in Import Performance but they offer all types of services. They mainly build race cars, so they are great with suspension set-ups, corner balancing, etc.. 877-432-4026 this is there toll free number. Ask for Joey (he is the shop manager) and tell him that John Webb referred you. He will take good care of you!!

If you want HP then forced induction is your friend. 250hp at the wheels is no prob at all. With IRTBs youll have trouble getting any real HP out of it plus they are a pain in the ass. Trust me, you want HP, go FI. :)

did you widen the rear or does it just look like that stock? and she's coming along nicely

i'm wanting instant throttle response and decent power... not gobs of it... trying to make a good mountain going car out of it, and while a turbo is good... i think i can come close to reaching my goal without it.

the body is completely stock.

Well good luck to you. I will be interested in seeing what you can do. :)

About the best I have seen done with normally aspirated 1.6 is about 170hp...and that was mucho bucks and tons of work. For a fraction of the $$$ a "coldside" supercharger install will give instant throttle response and much much more power and torque. Its just a reality with Miata engines.
Of course for really big HP numbers turbo is the way to go.

Many have been down this road before you and the results are well documented. Nevertheless...good luck. I hope you can reach your goals.

For me, I cant see dumping tons of cash & time into an NA setup to be spanked easily by any dumass with a cheapass greddy. But thats me :)

i've got a 1.8, and i haven't ruled out turbo alltogether, but i want to see what i can do with the motor first. if i do turbo, it'll be tiny.

Even with a 1.8...same results really for normally aspirated. Not much HP for mucho $$$.

"Tiny" turbos work well with Miatas. A T25 in the right form will provide linear response, no lag, and decent power.

I'll be interested to see what you can do.

I have lots of oem parts should you be looking for any.

i do need a couple oem parts. the rear passenger spindle assembly, the upper control arm for the same corner, and the fuel and brake lines that run under the car from front to rear.

once i get the thing finished up and painted, then i'll probably go to town on a second longblock. i just want to get this suspension sorted out first.
