Just get black spray paint and spray paint them. Make sure you tape off the car though.

And put on thick coats otherwards it'll crack.

Yes you can do that too. But I'd say use atleast 1-2 bottles of black spray paint to really get a good tint to them.

I've tinted over 40 pairs of taillights. Believe me, for the best quality and longest lasting finish, 1 can of black spraypaint on each tail works out the best.

I have them blacked out on my DSM.

Just go to summit and get some VHT Nightshades and a can of clearcoat.

Then just sand down the lights and polish them. Gives a real nice finish to them.

No problem. See? Don't be so quick to judge me and what I post. I do know what I'm talking about no matter how I come off. The way you have it is illegal. The thing that makes it illegal is only one.....the reflector. Technically, the reflector HAS TO BE VISIBLE to be in a legal state. That's what I'm going to do to mine. Tint the whole thing, but the reflector. Later, QD.

If you can't tell the differance between the driving light and brakes lights 300 feet away during the daytime IT IS illegal. With the exception of the Beretta, if just about any of you get rear ended it could easily be written as your fault :2cents: Other than that it looks decent on most cars but normally just a light tint is all it takes to look good.

40-8-26. Standards for brake lights and signal devices
(a) Any motor vehicle may be equipped and when required under this article shall be equipped with the following signal lights or devices:

(1) A brake light on the rear which shall emit a red light and which shall be actuated upon application of the service (foot) brake and which may but need not be incorporated with a taillight; and

(2) A light or lights or mechanical signal device capable of clearly indicating any intention to turn either to the right or to the left and which shall be visible from both the front and the rear.

(b) Every brake light shall be plainly visible and understandable from a distance of 300 feet to the rear both during normal sunlight and at nighttime, and every signal light or lights indicating intention to turn shall be visible and understandable during daytime and nighttime from a distance of 300 feet from both the front and the rear. When a vehicle is equipped with a brake light or other signal lights, such light or lights shall at all times be maintained in good working condition. No brake light or signal light shall project a glaring or dazzling light.

(c) All mechanical signal devices shall be self-illuminated when in use at the times mentioned in Code Section 40-8-20.

(d) All lenses on brake lights and signal devices shall be maintained in good repair and shall meet manufacturers' specifications.

I did state technically. Because you are supposed to have RED taillights. Not black. That's why even the taillight covers of the old days had writtne on the package that they were "for offroad use only." Later, QD.

Later, QD.The label removed all liability from them ;) Also ANY modifying of a DOT approved product is illegal, oem taillights went through strict testing to be approved...

If you've ever had to deal with DOT, OSHA, UL listed, etc. then you'll understand the process and paper trail of every single part and piece of equipment used by anyone in america...kinda crazy when you think about it.

http://www.vhtpaint.com/products/sfID1/7/sfID2/34

Note to DIY window tinters, that's what you use on the sun dots on your rear window, you vinyl up to the first row of dots then spray the top few inches...otherwise it's a bitch to scrape off the dots and i laugh at people that try to tint over them

I've never tinted tail lights in my life, and maybe I'm wrong on this, but I think you didn't pick up on the sarcasm  . Unless you want to get pulled over sometime soon, I would buy a new pair of tail lights and start over with film instead.
