i had the same car a few months ago

you can do basically anything as the bay is huge, practically nothing is "bolt in"

a 4AGE w/ ITBs or 4AG would be good, but for a little more you can just get a SR20 motorset

or if u wanna go cheaper/more bang for the buck/and slightly more original (which was what I was about to do, but had too many non running cars at the time... so i just sold the car) is drop a GM smallblock 350 V8 and throw on a supercharger or some small twins... thats a BEASTLY car... the car weighs around 2k so thats incredibly light
it might be a little cheaper but you'll pay for that in labor and hassle, but the reward will be oh oh oh so greater

Gallo makes motors.

They have a gallo 16 and a gallo 24.

The 24 is by far the best motor of the 2. It bolts up directly with corollas too.

shits legendary and halfbaked is wrong, its not bolt in, but a lot of the bolts do line up, but still a little work is required to get it in... but yeah you can pick them up for pretty cheap now a days its worth looking into... i have some friends in south carolina who have done the swap.

how much do those motors run for?

Depends on where you find um and their condition. A 4AGZE (supercharged 4AG that were in MR2's) can run from $500-$700. My only experience is with the 4AGE and the 4AC so I can really be of much assistance. But if I were to provide some useful information:

http://www.toyota3tc.com/

They will be able to help you more than those who frequent this forum. And if you get in a pinch:

http://www.club4ag.com/

Although most of those guys are AE86 enthusiats, many of them are knowledgeable in old Toyotas. Good luck.
