freecreditreport.com has monitoring from all 3 bureaus.

And Kelly, I don't know, the only credit I've done was taking out a loan when I was 18 and paying it all back on time. I've never had a credit card.

Right now it is:

750, 752, and 761 depending on the agency.

It's lower than normal as I have had 8 credit inquiries in the last year (when I bought my house last June and when I am refinancing right now, that accounts for 4 or 5) and I also have my TV to pay off (I have the money to pay it off, but it is sitting in an account earning interest until the first payment is due in '08 - I'll pay it off then). I used a Mitsubishi credit card (had to apply for it) to get the special defered payment rate. That was another inquiry.

Using the TransUnion credit analyzer projection tool, they say that my score will jump up to almost 803pts when I pay off the tv and the credit inquiries fall off of my record. :)

By the way, you CANNOT get your FICO score for free. You can get your credit report for free from annualcreditreports.com (no other site is backed by the 3 companies - no, neither is freecreditreport.com). However, as with any service, you have to pay to get your FICO (credit) score.

I'm 19. I have no plans on buying a house for a good while. All the money that I earn at work goes into my bank account instead of spending it on stupid pointless crap. If I can't pay cash for it, I won't buy it. When I DO buy a house, I plan to pay in full cash. Until then, I won't be buying a house. Yes, it is possible, I know several people that have done the same thing.

#1. You should've called me about your Refi...... :tongue1:
#2. That is exactly right.

Most of the "free" credit report sites you see advertised are not free at all. Some even have a condition of you changing your phone service before they'll send you a copy of your credit report.

#1. You are entitled to a copy of your credit report FREE from each of the repositories (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) once a year and/or anytime you are denied credit.
#2. I wrote a thread that will answer most questions people have concerning scores here: http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111496&highlight=credit+score
#3. As I said in the thread I started, scores are tricky little boogers because each repository uses a different formula to get their score. This is why we all have 3 different ones. I have yet to see 3 identical scores. I imagine it's possible, but since they all use different criteria I'd imagine the probability is highly unlikely.
#4. If anyone cares, the toll free numbers and websites to each of the repositories are:

Equifax 800-685-1111 www.equifax.com
TransUnion 800-888-4213 www.transunion.com
Experian (formerly TRW) 888-397-3742 www.experian.com

Most of them you can request your credit report online. I know you can dispute anything online, but you have to have a copy of THEIR report in front of you to do so (it's because they find everything by the report # they assign it when they print you one out).

Any questions? Ask away.... :goodjob: :D

mines was avg 790 (one of them was over 800), (checked 3 months ago, with a house mortgage preapproval/financing company) and they prequalified me for a house 200-220k (depends on how the dude changed the numbers around or something) and like 6 point something percent interest, which wasn't bad on my own income at age 19

Do you live at home?

Do you go to college?

Have you had to deal with the "real world" yet in terms of providing for yourself?

Even if you save $20k a year, it will take you 10 years to buy a $200k house. In 10 years, trust me, $200k won't buy you much in terms of a house. With that said, I can't forsee you saving $20k a year once you get out on your own (if you aren't already).

Nope. It's a 0. Dan just bought a Topkick and they checked his credit obviously to buy it. So for fun we checked mine (I used to have a repo on it from when I was 18 and wanted to see if it was still there. Haven't applied for credit since. That was 12 years ago. Not a credit card or even a utility bill). They said a 0 isn't bad or good. It just means I haven't used it in the past 3 years. I then got my free credit report on line to be sure and it was the same with all 3 major credit reporting agencies.

most 3 recent inquiries is the financing companies. First one is the mortgage broker, didnt find a house in time so i had to do it again a few months later. A. I said that NO site gives you your FICO score for free.

B. None of those comments were directed towards you. There are 6 people that claim to have 800 or higher and 3 the claim 850. I would guess that 1, at best, is being sincere, and that none of the 850 claims are legit.

Yeah. The majority of ppl are claiming 751-800.

I've worked pretty hard to get my credit where it needs to be. Not to brag but being 23 and having $45,000 in unsecured credit (3 credit cards) available to me whenever I want isn't bad. Not to mention only having a $2,000 balance on one of the cards which is at at 0% int to maintain a good credit/payment history.

There's no point in lying. Threads like this always open up the opportunity for ppl to lie and make themselves feel better about themselves.

just saying in the car business i know for a fact good great credit doesn't matter... strong credit.. IE have credit for a long period of time is better.. shows that your established and you make payments... like having average credit over an 8 year period of time vs some one with great credit that has only had credit for about a year or 2.. you don't know what they are capable of. like how many payments they've missed in the pass or are the going to miss any..

a good credit score doesnt mean you are a baller... I know people who make under 20 K a year with a score close to 800.
Is all about how you manage your finances and how long it has been established and kept in good standing.

A true baller doesnt need credit........ :lmfao:

ISAtlanta300
04-04-2007, 04:23 PM
True that, Julio.... and i am 'one of the six' who is being sincere, at best....

Jaimecbr900 can vouch on my score before i purchased my house. It was already in the mid 700's averaging about 750 or so.

Since then it has jumped considerably. One of them was over 800 last i checked (about 814 or so). I need to check the other ones and get the average. It is all about managing credit, folks. I am by no definition rich or a baller. But i am very responsible.

You will be amazed at the little things that you can do to improve your credit. Always, ALWAYS pay on time. Pay at LEAST your minimum or more than that. Keep some credit cards open, but don't use them (I have a BOA platinum card with 5k credit that i never used), but also 'use' one of your credit cards but show responsibility in payment (I have an amex blue which I use for my work travels and also bills and stuff with an 18.8 k credit limit. I also have an Amex Platinum).

And to think, at one point, in my 20's , I have raked up about 15.000 in debt, and was considering doing one of those Payment consolidation reduction things. But i made a commitment to pay it off. It hurt my wallet, and i had to eat scraps for a couple of years, but it also helped my credit since then.

I also have extensive apartment rental records and utilities in my name which were also always paid on time

I am also 34 years old and have established credit when I was about 21 or so and had to 'finance' my graduation class ring... lol.
