Okay, this isn't for me, it's for a friend of mine. He's got an OBD1 B16 in a CRX, and they just bought a 2000 Civic Si, and he wants to put that motor in the Si.

My question is, what is required to swap that motor in that car?

I'm thinking it's the whole wiring harness and the ECU, but I'm not sure.

If the car is indeed a 2000 Si, it already has a B16 in it, so what would be the point?

The car was a repo that was bought from a friend of ours who works at a Finance company.

As they bought it, the tranny was held in the engine bay by a rachet strap, and the engine, axles, and springs were sitting in the trunk.

He's got a JDM B16A in his CRX, and he wants to swap it into that one because the B16 in the trunk has a litle problem.. The rod bolts on #3 are seized onto the crank.

The guy who had it before them, which it turns out they knew who it was, had it turbo'd and dynoed it at MSP. It was knocking on the dyno and it got messed up during one of the pulls supposedly.

So, long story short. Stock motor need much work, he wants his rex motor in this car.

use all the parts intake manifolds, altenator, dizzy form the b16 in the trunk off the 2000 and you need to add the crank position sensor to the jdm b16

See....now that makes much more sense.

With any question regarding cars, the more info you can provide the more likely you are to get a helpful answer.

I know, I just didn't think why he wanted to put the motor in the car mattered too much.

I'm still trying to find out anything I can about the swap though.

When I read your first post, the notion of pulling a B16A2 for a B16A didn't make any sense at all. I mean, why go through all the trouble of a swap to gain nothing.

But, if it were me, I would just swap the long block over and use all the accessories, intake, exhaust, etc. and run the engine OBD2. That seems like it would be the easiest solution. There *might* be some minor differences in castings and what-not but the overall design shouldn't be too much different.

The other possibility is to swap all the OBD1 stuff over and run an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness with an OBD1 ecu if your buddy just has to run the car OBD1.

I think we're going to run it OBD2, keeping manifolds, etc.

Plus he loves his engine. He's had it for quite a while. I actually got the drive the rex the other night. It's a goddamn BEAST. It's stripped, no a/c, no ps, Jasma Header, and a few ohter goodies.
