i have 1991 240sx KA-T

The Good
-SE Model with SE Wheels :boobies:
-motor has 160k (from an automatic)
-new paint
-good body
-great interior
-dash has minimal cracking
-auto to 5 speed swap
-sr20 t25 (wastegated at 8lbs)
-5zigen exhaust (3 inches)
-bored catalytic converter
-ssac bottom mount manifold
-xs power bov
-trust intercooler
-370cc sr injectors
-lightweight crank pulley
-new clutch
-spare motorset
-spare auto transmission
-exhaust is clean sounding, no rice, but not many 240s are :goodjob:
-SR20 Speed sensor, speedometer doesnt work, but neither does the speed limiter. :taun:

The Bad
-spare motor has 90K miles but cylinder 1 is fucked
-rebuilt salvage title from frontal accident, no frame damage still drives straight
-motor is not in car because i am cleaning it up and plan on upgrading to a cometic headgasket before i put it in
-will need to be tuned, it runs rich
-wont pass emissions right now, i was told after a tuning that it would but i doubt it since it has a bored cat anyways
-needs new dash bulbs
-small quarter sized rust hole under wing (SE Model curse)

im trying to conduct business, if you have a problem keep it in the PMs no sense in wasting bandwidth on useless rants. You are distracting people from what is truly what this thread is about, me trying to figure out how much this car is worth to people and try to get my hands on my true love, a Toyota Corolla AE86.

by the way, i know "Hachi" means 8, but what does "Doku" mean?

any update on painting the cover and piping...
how much would it take to get the speedo working again? I cant afford another ticket...

any pics of the dash?

BuBBa DRiFT
04-08-2007, 03:11 PM
the cover is painted, and since no one has shown interest in awhile the piping is still ugly, but i can easily sand it down and paint it before its sold. heres some pics of the interior...

BuBBa DRiFT
04-08-2007, 03:14 PM
if you found a KA sensor it would be a quick and easy fix, that sr20 sensor was in there when i got the car, took the top speed off, and the auto ecu takes the 5th gear rev limiter off

babowc
04-10-2007, 11:24 PM
huh?
if you're asking about the speed sensor.
1.

its a relatively easy fix.. just gonna get dirty fixing it, but easy.
if you cruise around ~3krpm, it'll be around 65ish on the freeway in 5th gear. :)

you can always use the rpms to decide when you're crusing around.
if you're in town, feather it! :)

BuBBa DRiFT
04-11-2007, 09:55 PM
its hatch, same thing, im just saying, since its not running its techincally a shell with a dead motor :D

basically

-Good Condition Hatch Shell
-250hp Turbo Kit
-Motor has 160k
-Spare motor has 90k with rolled push rod bearing in cylinder 1

will need the old motor taken out, the new motor put in, turbo kit assembled, and of course a tuning for the turbo kit. and you will have 250hp easy. Its at 8 pounds, I know a KA-T that ran 6 pounds and made 247hp.

BuBBa DRiFT
04-16-2007, 12:27 AM

eighteen hundred dollars for a turbo 240 that needs a weekends worth of work to be 250hp!!! yayyyyy

Is there any internal work done on the working engine. KA's are most definately not known for being solid engines when you just slap a turbo on it. also this seems like a great deal but putting an engine in isnt the easiest thing to do. *Considering Offer*

BuBBa DRiFT
04-20-2007, 12:38 AM
no its stock, thats why its running stock boost. due to it being high compression, its basically like doubling the boost level. 8 pounds on an SR20 feels like 16 pounds on a KA. but yeah, $1800 for a more than stock 240? I hate to get rid of it.

BuBBa DRiFT
04-20-2007, 12:39 AM
oh yeah, i can get you a metal headgasket for it, thats about all i planned to do for now. it was my DD but after the first motor rolled the bearing, i just let it sit. ive been carless ever since. its kind of depressing when i think about it so i try not to.

You didn't know there were factory KA-T's?!?!?!?!!

i wish, then maybe there wouldnt be so many sr20 swaps. the KA-T is a good application if you have strong parts, but the stock KA parts with 150k miles arent too boost happy. Hence the reason why its staying at low boost.

BuBBa DRiFT
05-02-2007, 03:29 PM
for those of you who think you know about boost and compression numbers and all that jazz. tell me the compression numbers for a stock ka, then tell me the numbers from a silvia sr20, then show me a reliable KA-T that is pushing over 350whp. key word is reliable. daily driver material might i add. if you cant, then please dont post. thanks for the free bumps though you guys.

na..
KA-T running 247whp @ 6psi would be on a t3 or a hybrid t3/t4.
definitely not a t25.

LOL. JJ is getting owned.
if you dump as much as you put into a sr into a ka, you can get the same results at a cheaper price.
same with the sr.
there are a few stock block KA running 350whp on a daily basis on KA-T.Org.
Im sure there are a few stock block SR running 350whp on daily basis as well.
t25.

T25 wont reach more than low 200s whp on KA.
after that, it'll become a hair dryer.
