if you go with an eclipse, GSX would be your best bet,
its turbo and AWD. which is definately good for track.

just wondering, if you did all your maintenance and kept old changed every 3, i dont think there would/should of been as many problems as you said it would/has been, but hey, all cars are different! i never had any major problems with mine

if you get one, make sure you check the timing belt... because if it is bad and it jumps timing it is and interferance (spelling?) motor and it will drop a valve, or if it is really off it will straight up crush all of them... trust me mine dropped one, and i met a guy once who had no idea, so he just kept turning it over and forcing to start and shortly after it just crushed his valves.. other than that go for it they are fun cars to drive...

550whp and it couldnt take the beating? Interesting, I've made well beyond that for many years with lots of different dsms and have had no problems. You might have had some issues. I wouldnt go as far as to say that all 4G63's cant take that pounding. It's been a proven powerplant for quite sometime now.

500hp is about the mark where the 4g63 starts to need some internal upgrades

I have a 95 GS-T, I've had it for a year now, and it has 95,000 miles, no problems, motor is smooth with good power and pickup. I switched over to Mobile 1 oil after I bought it.
