Hey..

I recieved a fake "garrett" from another ebay seller and paypal wants me to get this verified through a professional before they can do anything for it.

sucks ass.. but they're doing their job, so what can i say. :(

but they are an Hour away... SO I mean thats what your looking at with that. There are other shops closer to Gwinnett though, Modavi, AAP motorsports, Balanced performance, are some of the ones i know about. I was referred to mainstream by a couple people, and So i have had my work done there... Good people, so far seem to be nothing but up front with you. And the prices are great. Haven't had any problems yet that I can pin point to them so a +1 for Mainstream for the moment.

yes, they are an hour away at most.
i tried emailing Garrett turbocharger distributors, to see if they can help me.
Since i need this done by the April 5th, if i cant get help with the distributors, ill have to just go to a shop to get it done..

any other recommendations? or can anyone do this by just looking at the pictures?

It's an Ebay copy of a garrett turbo. I don't think garret even uses a 12 blade turbine anymore. I'm not sure if garette even uses the long neck off of the turbine scroll anymore. This is an ebay turbo next to my turbonetics, exact thing the seller sent you.

If you go to a shop, you should probably pay them a little something for their time to do this. I know it's not much time, but if you really want it done it should be worth something.

With that said, Call 770-923-1550 and ask for Arash or Sam at Mahdavi in Lilburn. They are well versed on Garrett, Turbonetics, Greddy, and just about any other turbo manufacturer.

Good luck with your quest.

BTW, are you trying to get a full refund and send it back or just a partial refund and keep it?

BTW, exactly what model of Garrett was it supposed to be? Because if you know what he advertised it as, you can always cross reference it from Garrett's product catalog here:

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/products/turbochargers.html

Hope it helps. I hate scammers.

i think garrett ususally puts a serial#/ p/n plate on the flat machined section on the compressor housing.

i have a freshly rebuilt garrett t3 and it has the plate there.

the thing is as far as I know garret never made a hybrid turbo, they all came out of the aftermarket using garret parts, turbines, compressors, ect. They did make t3s and t4s, I just don't think they ever put together a hybrid.

I bet if you called Garret and asked if they ever made a T3/T4 hybrid and they didn't you could get them to put that in writing.

Yes, i actually emailed all the garrett dealers listed on the turbobygarrett.com website, which is Garrett's main site.

Definitely can pay a small sum for their time.
Also, im trying to get a FULL refund and return this piece.. i do not want to be stuck with a turbocharger that i have NO trust in.

The sad thing is, some people actually believed this to be a garrett turbo on another forum which will remain undisclosed... i was THOROUGLY disappointed for sure.

Ill give Mahdavi motorsports a call if nothing is heard back from the licensed garrett dealers :)

is it possible it's garret internals w/ different housings?

just trying to be devil's advocate.

i'd be skeptical if i were you too.

It seems by his user name that he is a young person.

Have you tried to contact him directly? Maybe he will cave in rather quickly if you use the right.....verbage with him ;) .

Just a thought.
