Here is a story of hypotheticals with a question at the end. Your help with the answer is appreciated.
Person #1 walks out to his car to leave on vacation and notices that Person #2's passenger side tires are completely flat. #1 finds this pretty damn funny, thinks to himself "karma is a bitch" and gets in his car and leaves. At somepoint in the next 3-4 hours Person #2 walks out to find his tires flat. At this point apparently the police are called. Person #1 arrives at his destination and recieves a phone call from the police informing him that he is being accused of this and they want him to come in and talk to them, they also question him about the tool box he keeps in his car, and if he knows anyone else that might have done this. Person #1 says "I had nothing to do with this, Person #2 has made alot of enemies, and I dont have anything in my tool box that could puncture a tire. I would also not fuck with someones car over trivial shit." The police ask for a call back if Person #1 finds out anything.
Now for the question: If person #1's (who is very protective of his car) car winds up with any sort of damage (obvious vandalism) would it be acceptable to completely fuck over person #2's car? If not, what is a good, nonviolent, course of action that will result in some sort of punishment?
I have mixed feelings on this kind of situation. What would you do?
