So yesterday i got a letter in the mail with a government seal on it with "IMPORTANT JURY DUTY DOCUMENT" in big, red letters on the front. Apparently i'm supposed to be on a jury next month.

wtf.
Do they normally get people this young for juries? i'm only 19yrs old (20 on monday) and i've already got jury duty?? My parents are 45+ yrs old and they've never had it. Whatever...

any pointers? any way i can get out of it?

I think there's ways out of it...I just don't know what they are.

But yes, they choose, at random, anyone over 18. I don't know how they do the "at random" part, but I know some people who can go through their entire lives without having it. Others, like you, get it right after turning 18, and sometimes people get it twice in a life time...

You support murder, rape and stealing
You won't see jury duty, then again you may end up facing a jury

Not true. Supporting it isn't a crime. DOING it is. They have no evidence, nor has he incriminated himself to doing it. He only said he supports it. :)

However, he MAY face time in the Psych ward.

it's $25.

but i think i'll go anyway. according to the envelope, it's an "opportunity to participate directly in the administration of justice". lol... plus this might be my only chance to be in a court and not be the bad guy.

just tell them you are racist, and that any crime should result in the death penalty. I got summoned for jury duty last year, was only 20 then, but that was back home, and I'm at school, so I got out of it

I'd do it just because it seems like an interesting thing to take part in. Think of it as an opportunity to play 1/12 god.
