I am not able to play music. Here is a screenshot of what I'm getting. I have not downloaded anything to my computer other than MSN and AIM. I bought it new in December. Won't let me play music from the internet as well. Looks like it's trying to go into safe mode or something beause the "START" button changes to what Window 95 looked like.
Any suggestions?
Reps for help.

No idea man. Sometimes my sound will cut out and I just have to restart it. I've never had my audio device just quit. Call tech support. It's free. :)

Am I going to have to reinstall everything? Just that? Is it going to know that only that is missing?
Thanks for all the help.

just do a system restore.

check to make sure your speakers are plugged in where they should be and that they are on, then check the volume level or if it's muted or not (yes yes i know it's simple but you'll be surprised how many people forget this step.)

If everything is in working order, try downloading an alternative media player. For example, WinAmp. It looks like you are getting some type of error in Windows Media Player so it could be corrupt altogether. Try a different player.

If that doesn't work you'll have to troubleshoot your sound card to see what's up. PM me and i'll try to help...

yes it will...all you need to do is right clock on my computer, properties, then device manager, scroll down to your sound card and right click and look at the properties to make sure it is working properly..if not reinstall the driver for it

system restore does not replace or delete files or programs, just changes settings. you will not loose recent work, saved e-mails etc.... and any changes that you make are reversible.
start/all programs/system tools/system restore.

it tells you all about it once you are there. hope that helps

Hey aaron...

right-click on 'My Computer' and choose 'Manage'...click on the device manager.

Is there anything with a '?' or '!'?

hm..or start >setting>>control panel >>Sound and Audio Devices property>>see if it open up and go to "audio" then look at play back if there's a device there.

Ok... This is a serious one because everyone is saying the same darn thing.
Control Panel, System, hardware tab, device manager. Find your sound device, Disable and re enable it. See if that works. If not. Un install it. Reboot computer. It should pop up saying you have new hardware and it is being automaticaly installed. You may have to put one of your driver disks in to find it. Afterwards it should be enable and "working properly". If not call tech support and tell their asses to fix it.

blah blah blah, find your computer maker's website.
then go to their website, and in their website go to SUPPORT, DRIVER DOWNLOADS, and it will ask your for your model, etc. keep going, if it asks for which windows version, choose XP, and then it will show a ~5-15mb file, download and install it, i do this for a living, PM me if it still is not working.

It works every time I restart my computer but shuts off after some time. If I turn it on and start using it right away, it works on the internet etc. If I let it hibernate or something, it stops working.

See if you can just reload the sound driver from the drivers CD.
