I recently did an SR swap on my s13 coupe (the one in my sig). and I have been trying to get my head up display to show my speed. so I bought this part

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180086487706&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008

a US 5speed, Speed sensor (one that read miles per hour instead of the kilometers per hour japanese one that came with the SR tranny) so I get it in the mail today, and go to put it in and the the thing is too big for the hole, and it doesnt fit into the SR tranny. Now, I remember my mechanic specifically telling me the KA automatic transmission Speed Sensor wouldnt fit (my car was an automatic before we did the swap) as it was too big, so I am begining to think that either 1. the guy that sold me this part is a moron, and sent me an automatic tranny speed sensor, or 2. the US speed sensors dont work with the SR transmissions (which I find unlikely). Does anyone know? Thanks.

US 5 speed sensors do work with the SR's. I have a couple if you need one.

Yeah, I just noticed that the sensor in that picture, is different from what the guy sent me. the one he sent me has an orange tip (that looked exactly like the automatic sensor) and in the one in the pic has a red tip. I am going to see if I can swap it out, but if not, I may be needing one from you, ill let you know.

And if your HUD still does not work, it may be a capacitor in the gauge cluster. I can fix that if needed.

yeah i think youll need sr sensor and jdm cluster..or something like that. i have sr sensor in my KA-T to keep my car from stalling out at 5000rpm or 120mph

no speedometer though :(

Would 180sx gauge cluster read the speed sensor readings and at least give me KMH?

Um.. No. You don't want the SR sensor.. Thats the reason you swap them out for a US sensor. If you "needed" a SR sensor, it would already be on the tranny right?

So, no, no SR sensor, and no JDM cluster. Unless you just want it.

And I'm pretty sure that the ghetto way to avoid speed cut. You can just snip the wire.

But then again, I have no idea about KA-T's. So I may be wrong.

lmao the jdm and usdm speed sensor are the same lol. look at your cluster they read the same. sr or ka doesn't matter. if you look under your mph there are the kph which are the same spots as the jdm. this is untrue (the fact you have to change sensors) save your money and keep the sr one
