question:

just received a stick of 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz RAM I ordered. I specifically requested PC3200 DDR 400MHz RAM to match the specs of my current memory and the seller stated that it was PC3200. From what I have read it will work however not at the full potential of if both were PC3200.

paid $25 shipped, think it's worth raising a stink over??? it's for my home desktop which currently only has 256MB PC3200 RAM and it's lack of RAM is its only shortcoming.

thanks

nvm, guy just pm'd me stating he made a mistake and will send out the PC3200 tomorrow. still gonna install the pC2700 and see what happens or better yet use both of the 512's to see if there is a huge advantage worth me buying the extra as well

Different clock speeds are a bad thing thats why they are documented.

Ahh, well I've been trying to find two 512s for my system. Just trying to find some quality products on the cheap. Thanks.

I wouldn't buy cheap memory, you'll just have problems with it later. BTW 2700 and 3200 would be compatible, although 2700 wouldn't run at the same speed and sometimes that causes conflicts, usually not.

Yeah, my Compaq (Don't ask) is supposed to run 2700, but I bought a Kingston PC3200 512 stick and it works fine.

BTW, there's a little computer store in Mableton, I could buy things from there for cheap.

That stick of RAM only costed me $45-$50, I can't remember.

it will run at the lowest clockspeed of either ram you have... not really a big deal just a little slower

I'd raise a stink over it.

got the PC3200 stick of 512MB installed today and this thing is freaking blazing. I'm still curious to if a full 2GB of RAM will make much more of a difference over the current 768MB.

well, till I find a steal of a deal on more I'm more than satisfied for the moment.
