ok......i have b18c1 in hatch, right now i have no muffler! my set up in my coupe was 4-1 header into 2 1/2" all the way back into greddy evo2 ( not cat, no pre-muffler). i went to track other day runnin very slow times 15.09 was best. i know it's back preasure,
q: is just puttin that muffler back on going to give me the preasure i'm lookin for or do i need to put something on b4 muffler to gain more back preasure??
q: should i change to a smaller canister'd muffler?

..here comes that myth again
You don't need to calculate back pressure, you need to figure out what works best for the exhaust to exit at the maximum possible velocity.
Look it up.

So you was the guy with the primer hatch that was loud as hell on sunday LOL!
Honestly I would go with a 2.5in exhaust with a high flow cat. I had experience with a str8 pipe to a muffler, and my car "felt" stronger with a more normal setup!

IMO I don't think just a normal muffler will really add that much back pressure, if that's what you're looking for .. free flowing mufflers (the ones you can see right through) are pretty much for sound/looks only. The baffles on the inside of the walls quiet it down.

and yes some of that was hard to follow, so i printed that and will review when not so busy.
also i see where now i need to be trying to make my power sence i have a vtec motor and i didnt know that my exhaust should be tuned for where i want my power. i have a 4cyl 1.8ltr....low end trq is not going to be my strong point w/out turbo but this is a start.

Exhaust doesn't really need as much thinking as you're putting into it. With a 1.6 or 1.8 Honda Motor then 2.25-2.5" mandrel bent tubing is your best bet. 2.5" will yield more power overall though!
