I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the Audi TT. I was looking to purchase one in the near future, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice and/or more knowledge about them in general.

I love mine (a4), although not a tt, but shares the same engine (2.0t). Car rides good, its peppy, comfy, looks great, and a great interior.

Thanks for the feedback. If you don't mind me asking, how are they on maintenance? (Are they as expensive as other European makes like BMW?) +1

Thanks for the feedback. If you don't mind me asking, how are they on maintenance? (Are they as expensive as other European makes like BMW?) +1Ive only had mine for 7k miles, and first service at 5k was free. Afterwards regular service is at every 10k. I heard services range anywhere from $150-300 depending on which interval it is. But otherwise, I haven't had any problems.

Honestly, if you are asking about maintance cost.. I wouldnt Buy it......

Actually, Thats my TT thats for sale... And not sure why you are are looking at 03+.. when some are the same... minus the weaker 2.0T compare to the old 1.8T

well you have 3 diffrent trims

You have the TT 180, FWD, TURBO a weak 180 Crank horses.. response well to mods, especially chiped.. but you will still be slow.

the TT 225 ( what I have ) AWD, Turbo 1.8T, 225 hp/207 tq (crank) responds well to mods.. Mines already chipped, exhaust, DV valve and K&N Drop in...

then you have the TT 250 V6 = useless.

I would choose the 1.8t over the 2.0t ( newer TT) anyday.

But honestly, they are not cheap when they brake... Unfortunatly you are buying a VW with an AUDI badge and when shops see the AUDI badge they think you might have money.. maybe you do.. I dont know, but since you asked about maintance.... it might be a problem......

Cool cars though... =]

quoted for truth. after the warrenty is up they become expensive. my dad just sold his 98 2.8 awd and bought a fit because of maintenance.

Since there are two audi owners in here I will ask this question. My dad has an 01(I think) Audi TT and it seems to not be gettin enough fuel or somethin. It will start cuttin out at lower RPM's and be fine after it is cuttin out for about 5 seconds then shift gears and it does it again. He is thinkin maybe the oxygen sensor is bad since that is what code it is showin right now. Could that be it or maybe the fuel pump or fuel filter is stopped up?

Yeah my family is all VW/Audi or we were. My sister has a B5 A4 2.8 and my mom had a 98 A6 2.8 Quattro. There was always something wrong with them...always. They are extremely nice cars and they are a lot of fun to drive, but I dont think that they are worth it.

But my sister has had the A4 and been through all this shit but wouldnt have it any other way, she loves the car.

Yeah, I was VW loyal until I traded in my Bug on a Honda. But if they're like VW, then if they are properly maintained and taken care of then they will last forever.

I dont think they are like VW's. My VW goes to the shop maybe....once every sixth months, if that much... But with Audis more and more goes wrong normally not the same thing either, you just keep fixing something new.

Probably a MAF, next will be an engine light for a coolant temp sensor. Audi makes a good car, if you get a 1.8t use only synthetic oil, and get it changed every 3-5 thousand miles.

For some reason VW and Audis do not respond well to slow drivers. The ones that get dogged like a German is driving are the ones that have the least problems.

I like the looks and drive of the TT no matter what year, engine, or drivetrain layout. The 2.0t is only in the newer ones, and getting your hands on one of those os going to be kinda expensive.

The good news is they are finally bringing out a new body style so the old body style tt prices should drop.

Good Luck and never EVER take it to anyone but a dealer to fix it.

Seems like I have done everything right. Maybe that's why maintenance has only cost me $500, if that, over the past 3 years.
