The interior squeaks, the radio came from a damn Pontiac Sunfire and they leak oil after 10k miles. Fast car? Sure.. not saying it isnt. But its the build quality that kills the car.

BTW Ericp, the wheels on your SRT compliment the car nicely.

now I will agree about alot of vette owners being assholes. When I lived in Orlando, the first time I saw a C6 Z06 on the interstate, me and a buddy of mine tried to get him to get on it a little. Dude wouldn't even look at us, guess cause we were in a 94 4 cylinder S-10 lol. When I took my SRT to the track I met 2 viper owners and they were both cool as shit.
As far as the cars themselves go. I love both the Viper and the Vette. My dad owned a C5 vette and it was a very nice car. Haven't been in a Viper unfortunately. Either way they are both just a Dodge and a Chevy.

I have ridden in both one after another (no street racing) and that is what I would suspect. 510hp compared to 505, 3,410 lbs. vs 3150. So just driving around on the street I doubt you'd notice a difference, unless you were racing a vette/viper.

ok....welll the viper and vette are very restrictive. we all know this. Also, the Viper is still running push rod. in '08 they are having VTEC yea-uh. They arent making '07's. But still only pushing 600hp.

Nah the 87 has lower compression rotors and a different turbo so it makes a little less power. When I had my exhaust on it was putting down 216 to the wheels, not bad for a $300 exhaust on an otherwise stock car.

Good question, I took it off when I got my motor rebuilt and when we did that I realized that the resonator blew in half. So as soon as I get a test pipe made, it'll go back on.

Sure, look at the bad roof on some of the C6Zs, now look at most ALL Vipers and their front ends not lining up with their headlights. C6Z w/ just drag radials runs 10s and the Viper... ? Not to mention the huge difference in price on the new ones. Test after test came back with the same results. Sure, the Viper isn't too far behind the Z06... but then there's the price factor.

This debate can go on all day long. I looked at both, researched plenty. If it's not your cup of tea, so be it. Don't generalize everyone. I'm sure someone could generalize you (TRYMY4.0) about being a daddy's boy and having everything bought for him. time out. Vipers are not meant for qtr mile passes. They are meant for the road courses. Back in the day, LeMans had numerous restrictions on the vipers to slow them down b/c GM would bitch about how fast they were. And the Corvettes were running a non production motor. True, now the Zo6s are pretty quick and can handle the tracks a lot more. But, your comparing the C6 and the SRT. The C6 is 70k. The SRT 90k. But, you go back a few years, get a 98 for 45k, spend 5-10k on the motor, you've got 700-1000hp. The SRTs are a little over priced, but the viper over all has the better bang for the buck.

my dad has a '06 SRT-10 Coupe and with a few mods he could have well over 800hp. But the car is meant for corners, not straight lines.

Edit: And the Lingenfelter 427TT package costs almost as much as the car. 750hp, 3yr/36k mile warranty but with a price tag to go with it.

Well,theres a lot of stuff i hate, but im not 'hating', just stating a opinion. But once again, im not comparing performance of these cars at all. I never said they werent fast.. as a matter of fact, i did say they are. I'm just saying that GM could have done a way better job of putting them together for what they charge. But there are a majority of 'Vette owners who think their shit dont stink, as with many groups of car owners. I'm sure the same things could be said about most of these owners of popular cars, just some get more publicised then others....Mustangs,Camaros,Supras,EVos...the list goes on. But the thread started isnt exactly breaking the mold of being a stereotypical owner. Im not so sure about a viper being "built for the corners" persay. In a track test by Automobile magazine it had a full 1.2 seconds slower lap time than the ZO6 and turned .06 less g's left side and .07 less g's on the right side on the skid pad.

Prove it. Until you do... your car is still overpriced and slow. I've been to a 350Z dyno day or two. Stock ones put down 230-235rwhp. Also, when is the last time YOU ran your car to a 13.8? Because others have ran an 11.9 in a bone stock C5Z06 doesn't mean I can or will.

How do you know my Chevy will be gone in a few years? How many have you owned and driven for 5-7 years? I'm no psychic but I'm going to venture out there and say... NONE. So you're just talking just to talk.

Your close-minded, biased opinion means nothing to me. What you read in a magazine and on the internet about being "the best car under $30,000" means absolutely nothing to me.

Well as a past 350Z owner I can say this, the interior of the 350Z is a far cry from being nice. It looks as if Nissan let a 5 year old design it. All of the fake aluminum trim is a joke. With mods to my 350Z it was fast, and yeah for $8,000.00 it could have 450hp. But there is no match for "good ole american thunder" When you turn the key of a 500hp v8 everyone knows it. I would take the Z06 over a 350Z any day. And as far as the poor quality I call bullshit, every car manufacturer have thair problems. As far as the "big bad Viper" yeah it looks and sounds good can't argue with that. But get behind the wheel and you will wish someone would just shoot you and put you out of your misery. It rides like a tank, and god forbid you should need to reach for a cd or your wallet. With no room to even scratch your ass I start to feel a little claustrophobic.
