Well, finally got around to watching some of the series that I downloaded.

I liked FullMetal Alchemist a lot, but definately had to watch The Conqueror of Shamballa. Without the movie, it just kind of left it unfinished. The movie closed up some of the gaps. Can't wait for them to come out with a new series.

The Claymore series was decent, but I didn't think that it was superb.

I liked the Gundam SEED series, but I definately felt that Gundam SEED Destiny was done as an afterthought. Gundam SEED Stargazer just seemed out of place to me. It didn't seem relevant to be named as part of the series. Would like for them to do more of the original series. I like Mecha.

Of course, I've seen all of Initial D and all that I could find of Wangan Midnight w/Eng subs.

Currently have several series on tap ready to watch:
Death Note
Bleach
Capeta
Code Geass
InuYasha
NGE
Samurai Champloo
Mobile Suit Gundam 00
and more...

Anyway, AWA was f*cking great as always. Watched some screenings, checked out the Funimation Panel where they announced all of their upcoming releases, bought a buttload of stuff (will post pics later) and more! Had a great time! Now I gotta figure out how I'm supposed to survive until Friday on $20. lol

Here are the pics of the Strike Witches / Mecha Musume figurines I've managed to acquire so far. Miyafuji Yoshika is in the mail and should be here sometime next week. I'll get pics when she arrives. (^_^)

All figurines are 1/9 scale.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/Gertrud1.png

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/Gertrud2.png

* - This technically isn't Gertrud Barkhorn from Strike Witches. This character is from Humikane's original Mecha Musume series done for Konami. The differences are minor, but you can notice them. They include mecha ears instead of dog ears and feet-like bottoms on the bottom of the Striker Unit. Everything else including weapon, uniform, hair, pantsu, and tail are all Gertrud. It's pretty obvious that this was used as her base.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/Lucchini1.png

I've actually had Lucchini for about a week now, but I never got pics. She came with ALOT of swappable parts including a rifle (pictured), Walther PPK handgun, two bayonets (knives), six different arms, and an extra set of Striker Unit bottoms that don't have the black base mounts so you can fly her around your room while making "WHOOOOSH" noises.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/LucchiniGertrud.png

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/Tomoyo1.png

* - Despite being a 2008 release, this figurine's packaging didn't have any SW markings on it, so I assume that it's also a Mecha Musume character that was used for Strike Witches. This character is almost (if not) 100% like Anabuki Tomoko from one of the Strike Witches manga/novels. She also has an removable/interchangeable top which you may see here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/TomoyoChest.png) (boobies have been censored. lol)

Also, both Gertrud(*) and Tomoko(*) came with small artbooks that have three color illustrations each as well as story, their aircraft background, and weapon specifications. You can see a picture of the covers with the SW Official Artworks here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/Artbooks2.png).

Here are the other artbooks I managed to grab at the con. Kind of pricey, but well worth it. I have been looking for the Saikano book for two years now and finally found one with the bonus content (diary page & hologram board) so I was quite happy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Nismosis/Anime%20Banners/Conventions/AWA%202008/Artbooks1.png

My girlfriend was cool enough to surprise me with Megami Deluxe Magazine Vol.11. I'd post pics, but my camera died just as I was about too. It has Clannad on the cover and quite a bit of good content. Not to mention a great poster. :)

CHAOS;HEAD(looks dark, you have any info ran? :D),

Michiko to Hatchin, (maybe

gundam 00 (seems really generic but i am going to watch it anyway because it is gundam :P),

Shakugan no Shana (Still haven't finished it for some reason.)
Burst Angel (Meh, it's okay.)
Bamboo Blade (Kendo focused harem anime. Woot!)
Elfen Lied (For about the 6th time.)

i hear you on that, the 1st time i watched it my jaw dropped multiple times when i thought the scope couldnt get much bigger lololol. but overall i thought it was something different that the story developed differently than most anime (SPOILER(sp? lol) below for anyone who has not watched it)

when they beat the king and took over the city normally that would be the end of an anime. (i also liked how gurren kept getting bigger lol, i found it more of a comedy than anything)

i found it more of a comedy than anythingWell, it is a comedy. Guren Laggan is basically a spoof on everything that is shonen anime. Big guns, giant robots, scantily clad busty girls, flower eyed lolis (literally), all thrown together for one giant failfest. The series is a joke unto itself and fans of series such as Excel Saga and FLCL will probably enjoy it. It was just a bit too idiotic for my tastes.

I want robotic loli action. Some thing hilarious and crazy. To bad my dream will never come true.Sky Girls was focused around four girls between the ages 14-18 flying exoskeleton suits in a military like scenario against the alien enemy known as WORMS. Serious at times while dramatic or even comical at others, it's an excellent series that is a good alternative to the shonen oriented Gundam animes. Spans 24 episodes and the artwork is by Shimada Humikane which is a definite plus. It's a must-watch for anyone that loves cute girls and military action. :goodjob:

http://i34.tinypic.com/654kyp.gif

Strike Witches is a shorter, more comical take on the Mecha Musume franchise from Konami. It's an alternate reality set in WWII where the world is being attacked by an unknown enemy know as the Neuroi. The only defense? Magical girls (Aged 12-20) that attack in the sky when equipped with Strike Units, plane-like equipment that attaches to their legs. Also, pants are non-existent so their always in their panties. Artwork is also done by Shimada Humikane. Spanning only twelve episodes, it's easy to get through and is a lot of fun. Not quite on the robotic part of things, but a good comical blend of cute girls and military battles. I recommend using Strike Subs (http://strikesubs.wordpress.com/) for quality releases. DVD releases are completely uncensored (boobs) and are being released soon after the DVD themselves are released in Japan.

First half was much better than the second half. The live-action movies are pretty funny to watch though (once only though).

Strike Witches fans get out your party hats. There are two bits of good news for this series.

1) Licensed for US Release (http://www.funimation.com/f_index.cfm?page=news&id=557)
The only concerns surround the issue of censoring due to the open depiction of 12 and 14yr old boobies. However, many sources assure fans that the pure uncensored DVD versions will be released. Look forward to the boobalicious DVDs from Funimation in early 2010.

2) Season 2 Announced (http://www.moetron.com/2009/02/25/strike-witches-season-2-announced/)
Issues concerning Studio Gonzo's health lead many to believe that the series will be presented by a different studio this time around. Perhaps JC Staff or someone. However, considering that this series is the only thing that kept Gonzo from going under last year, it's a pretty sure bet that they'll hold onto it and maintain the same quality presentation as was shown in the first season. Expect Season 2 sometime later this year.

Time for some more good ol' fashioned WWII flying mecha-loli panty action!

Also, here's an interesting note: Strike Witches is Wholesome Family Entertainment (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/02/08/gov-strike-witches-wholesome-family-entertainment/)

The Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs has awarded loli pantsu anime Strike Witches a ringing endorsement, in the form of an official recommendation.

The government run Media Art Festival exhibited the title alongside various other excellent anime in the venue’s mini-theatre, and families could be seen taking their children to watch this fine example of Japanese cultural excellence.
This outstanding endorsement of what some, including this site, have mistakenly branded nothing more than a drawn out and extremely well produced exercise in ogling loli pantsu and, in the DVD editions, quite a bit more, will surely be well received by struggling Gonzo.

With their new found credentials, they can now expect to join the ranks of other wholesome children’s anime, such as Kanokon.

We do not hear if they were using the ultra-wholesome DVD version as the basis for their screenings…I <3 you Japan. lol

me too, it will be EPIC Did you catch 221 today? lol now all the captains and espadas with the exception of Barragan Luisenbarn.

I think that they'll whore the fight out for possibly 3 to 4 more episodes until they let the Vizards come-out, but then again I could be wrong. They may see fit to place another random comedic episode that would piss me off :lmfao: :lmfao:

Yea Captain Commander came in and shut the whole damn show down lol, but now Espadas 1-3 are getting ready to let loose and then they finally decided to take it back to Ichigo and the 4th Espada [I say that because I know his name, just can't remember how to spell it :D]

but I really wish I knew how many episodes until the Vizards come to battle, but it looks as if Aizen is running out of Espadas and when Espada 0 is gonna finally make an appearance :ninja:
