I've noticed this as well, but I don't celebrate Chinese New Years so it doesn't really matter to me.

I've been there before, but that's about it. I liked Japan a lot better so I'm stuyding up on their history and language.

so its better to say asians??Yeah, Asians is the correct term. The term "oriental" is used when referring to objects. To call an asian person "oriental" is about the equivalent of saying "That thing..."

I got a Vietnamese friend, she celebrates the Chinese NewYear by performing sex acts. Because, she claims, that it has something to do with some God and fertility or something.

The worst is tryin to learn chinese and japanese language at once....and thats what im doing. God my brain hurts. I barely even know what the hell im saying. The only asian laguage i know is korean speak it and can write it. Japenses and Chinese HAH your kidding me chinese has 2400 characters but they only use about 1000 or so Japanese have some funny shit like each person name has this weird like ending like sama or i forgot the other. I ono but this shit confuses me.

It should be called asian new yr. It's based of the lunar year, instead of calendar year (which of lot of asain countries used to go by). That's why it's celebrated by other asians, not strictly chinese.

Or maybe it's just a way to get a week off. Maybe American should celebrate it too.

Most if not all Asian countries used to go by the lunar calender, so its not JUST Chinese new years, although it may be called Chinese New Years.

ShooterMcGavin
02-19-2007, 09:23 PM
well considering that the chinese developed their calender sometime in the 3rd millenium bc, i think it'd be pretty safe to say that it's called CHINESE new yrs for a good reason :goodjob:
