normally the software is routhly 300? for 2.slo/vr6, 500? 1.8t, 550? 2.0t, etc... (i'm approx on the prices)

but i will tell you guys get the software... NA guys will get some better response and some higher numbers(but you pay less), Turbo/Supercharger guys will get HUGE gains you will think you bought a completely different car. i know my 1.8t went from daily OK driver to OMG  FEED IT FUEL!!!

if you drive VW/AUDI and you don't have software... WHY is the only question?

I would love some software but I can't take moving up in class at the SCCA Autocross. My car is not setup for Street Modified and I would be killed.:idb:

I would but I just ordered some wood trim, air intake w/heatshield, and some tinted tails.

But If its a cheap enough price then I might have to put alot of thought into it. Would it screw it over if I still put 87 in there? Ive heard that it will just adjust itself to the gas, but will be less hp/tq with less octane.

I run in STX (the MkV has a 2.0L Turbo engine). If your car is N/A then you can chip till your hearts content. If you have forced induction then you can upgrade the ECu but you can't manipulate the stock boost levels. If you chip your turbo car then you would go into the SM class.:police:

i know guys who run in a stock class w/ software ;) (it is cheating though)

ummm you can't run 87 w/ software... actually you shouldn't be using 87 w/ 1.8t anyway... 91+ only ;)

benefits... lol try 40+ whp 70+ lbs... its the best upgrade you can ever do to these cars... just chip + k&n filter + new dv and your done; never touch it again.

I think he was talking about his 2.0 ABA not a 1.8T. From what Ive read a chip gives better throttle response, raises the rev limiter and removes the govenor as well as adding a few hp on a NA setup. Where you would really see alot of results is if you had a set of cams to go along with the chip.

I think GIAC does a chip for my VR that is specific for the different aftermarket cams. That would be the only reason I would get chipped is if I picked up some cams for it too. Only because chipping a NA motor is never that impresive.

1.8T is another animal and gets so much from a

It would be necessary to run 91 or 93 octane gas. The chip will probably net you a 5-8 horsepower gain and a gain in torque in the higher RPM range. It will also raise the rev limiter and the speed governor.

it would be worth it if you want alittle more pep out of your motor... software upgrade is always the best bang for your buck when you have a euro ;)

chip it + k&n = great N/A DD w/ alittle more pep then your normal na dd :( (but the cost ofr N/A chip is significantly cheaper then 1.8t.. standard price is like 250-300... so i would think w/ discount i would definately do it... probably the best mod you can get for N/A minus going internal ie. cams)

no normal price is approx 550 for 2.t and 500 for 1.8t... i'm thinking depending on the amount of people we get 10-20% which is pretty nice break. as soon as we get more numbers i will get w/ brian on an exact discount.

Fortunately, I know exactly when my car was made (right before my07), cuz I had to order it and wait for it to come here on a friggin boat... (not to mention the other identifiers of when it was manufactured...).

But yeah, from everything I've read it seems that the 2.0T's are basically ready to chip right from the dealer, as long as you've broken in the engine.

13.5k miles, got my V1, fresh mobil 1, and a new K&N, a chip is the next (first real) mod on my list.

so I heard back from the apr guys:

"The Cherokee Chapter gets 10% off retail chip prices. Your price would be $673.20 for stock and 93, instead of $748. With 7% tax and $42.50 labor, your total would be $762.82
Read up on APR's website, and keep in mind if you add the $59 security option the complete system is 100% undetectable from dealerships."

One thing to note!!!!
Apparently there could be an ecu upgarde waiting for us when we go in for service.

I'm at 13.5k miles, and I might just try to come in for my 15k service to avoid this euc potential conflict....
