I need a shop to pull a blown KA24 for my 240 and replace it with a new one. Anyone know any cheap places around Atlanta? They need to be quick to since its my DD and all.

i see tophat has good pricing for swaps, but does that include the motor?? im guessing no, but maybe they are benevolent people out there!!??

TheSnail

Define benevolent

BuBBa DRiFT
02-12-2007, 08:46 PM
benevolent means extremely nice if im not mistaken, its been awhile since I studied my SAT vocabulary in High School

Ben Elephant was the nicest elephant around town! thats how i remember it.

You want a DE long block? You dont need the tranny right?

BuBBa DRiFT
02-12-2007, 08:59 PM
nope, i blew push rod bearings and tried to get to the shop before it locked up and died.

didnt work.

so now i need motor, i have auto tranny ecu, transmission, i have obd1 intake i believe with sr injectors, i have turbo manifold, i just need the engine part. im thinking i should swap the headgasket while im at it so it doesnt warp cause its cheap aluminum. i just want to get this done so i can get driving again!!! i want it under 1k so i have money left over for some coilovers and a welded diff.

I'm not in charge of pricing, thats Mike and Scott. Just call up there, they are very reasonable as far as pricing is concerned and would work with you on just about anything. We are having an open house the 24th.

It would be under 1k for the engine and swap, but the turbo stuff adds some factors to the whole equation. Leaving me to go on your word on how the car ran before with its current tune, and things like swapping over the oil pan, turbo and manifold, running the oil line and swapping the injectors etc.. Swapping in the na is not the problem, swapping it in with its previous parts may carry along previous problems. I'll see with my friend if he's up to it.

ill tell you my set up

stock ka, sr20 t25, ebay bov, trust intercooler, sr20 injectors, and a grotesque welded together exhaust system. that was my set up. it was a work in progress, but the rod bearings blew. i took off everything just fine in about an hour, i dont think it would be that big of a problem would it?

BuBBa DRiFT

the na part is what i need, and the injectors, everything else i could do. i was looking at a tune as well. i dont have the tools or the experience or the time to pull out a whole motor and swap it, its more expensive this way by a long shot, but i am forced to do it. i was thinking a tune would be good too so i can get a nice stochiamic (sp?) rate so im not running so rich anymore too.

TheSnail

Just get a SAFC for a simple tune. But yeah, if you want to put your turbo kit on your own at a later date, then I'll do the swap. I'll pm you nor later tonight or tomorrow, I have to go right now to do my own swap lol.

Can anyone give me some prices. I am willing to help as much as needed, so hopefully that will help you with your pricing. I cant afford much, I have a part time job as a waiter in a crappy restaurant so theres no way I can afford the $850 installation I was quoted! If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. I havent been driving for awhile, and now not having a car is getting out of hand!!!!

Thanks in advance.
