This is for all the people that love the GT series. For the people that take that game too seriously. I didn't start playing Gran Turismo until GT3, but i touched on GT2 for like 15 minutes. I have always played it with a wheel. GT3 I had a MadCatz wheel then I got that Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel. I love it. So my question for everyone is...how much are you looking forward to the next one? I have seen some videos of it and I cant wait for that game to come out. This game is the ony reason I haven't bought a PS3 yet. Im waiting on the next Gran Turismo game. The only vids I have seen though people are drifting in it, which I think is amazing because drifting in GT4 is a pain in the ass for me.

It's alright, i rather have Forza 2 because it's like what Gran Turismo doesnt have and should. Like mad mods for your car.

I thought about that too. I never played Forza but heard enough about it to feel like I had played it. I wish the creators of Gran Turismo, Forza and GTR would get together and make one game that could be put on all systems. Like, it would have the graphics and physics of GTR, the customization of Forza and the amount of cars and graphics of Gran Turismo. Dont know of too many people that have played GTR on PC but its pretty hard core for those who love racing games.

When i have to put soft tires on the front and medium or hard tires on the rear of an AC Cobra with the power bumped up 20% in order to walk a car sideways down the track there is something wrong ;)
Then why is it whenever you touch the e-brake you can't power out of it? It's like there is a permanant traction control on :dunno:

Forza 2's game physics is way better than the 1st.
I used to be a GT fan, but Forza just kind of did it for me. I dont even remember if GT had these features, but if you turned off all the Traction Control, ABS, and Stability Control, the game is a lot more realistic and drifting is made easier, but why the hell would you want to do that on a racing game? This is on Forza, not GT. I've always found Xbox to be a smoother running console with games that run a lot smoother.

Ya as much of a fan of GT4 i am it does have its problems that Yamauchi needs to work on. But I can never find myself to turn away. What my friend and I do a lot is make a challenge for each other. Like the toughest one he gave me was to use the Shelby Cobra 427 with no assist and use road tires and be on the Nurburgring Nordschleife track. I think he wanted below like 8 minutes or something like that; oh, and its best to use the Logitech driving force pro. Makes it harder. But I have never had a problem getting a car sideways on GT4. My friend and I have noticed that the games physics are a lot different from using the Logitech wheel and using a controller.

GT4 is pretty much the only game I play. GT3 was the only reason I bought a PS2 in the first place. And I'm waiting to buy a PS3...until GT5 comes out.
I've yet to play Forza2...one of these days I'll try it out.
I agree that the physics on GT4 aren't that great. But I think the tuneability, car and track selection, and graphics more than make up for it.
One thing I love to do is set up a car just like yours, and race other people in their cars. It's a lotta fun!
GT5 is supposed to be a true simulation, while gt4 had to limit a couple things due to the hardware. But pc is the only way to go for sims anyway.

Yeah, like an actual AI.

Yeah, like an actual AI.
Hell yes. The AI in GT4 is the worst thing I have ever seen. When you try to make the game a little harder for your self, instead of the AI being a better driver, they just put faster cars in the race. That you can still beat. And the one thing that I would love for Kazunori Yamauchi to put back into the game would be some damn DAMAGE. Im talking real damage. Like if you hit a wall doing 50 the your car is screwed. And to make that idea even better, you would have to pay for the damage if the car was even repairable. If not then you just lost a car. To add on to that would be to make the damage affect the performance of your car. Say you mess up the front end of your car and dont fix it. Your down force is going to be really bad in the front.

I like Gran Turismo, but the lack of more Volkswagens keeps me from playing it. I have yet to play either Forza game.

id heard damage was left out of the gt series because to get licensing rights from some manufacturers they wouldnt allow car damage in the game. i love gt4, made a custom seat for my logitech lol. im waiting for gt5 to buy a ps3 as well.

I was a hardcore GT fan till I played Forza for 5 minutes.. the braking and throttle control feels alot more natural with the x-box triggers, the assisted line were awesome, choice of difficulty (not just insanely hard so people who generally aren't that good at video games can enjoy it), liscences from Porsche, Ferrari, etc...
I'm not bias though, if GT5 is better than Forza or Forza II, I'll buy a PS3.. untill then, I'll keep my Forza :D

Shiv, I was so ducked up last night...
Anyway...
Car: Cobra 427
Track: Nurbergring Nordeschiefe (The green hell)
Tires: Road
Assists: NONE... no ASM, no TSC... nothing
Rules... no walls and no grass runs...
Now you're wondering how I'll know? Easy, this will be done at my apt. I have the Logitech GT4 wheel with force-feedback. PS2 hooked up to a computer, feed through the monitor. I live in Sandy Springs. If you're game, you gotta run it here so I dont catch you cheating. It has to be one clean lap. a little grass is acceptable, but dont rally straight through an S-turn and No wall running.
You can practice all you want, but If you think you got it like that (jason) bring it.
Can be this weekend or next, or even during the week in the evening. How about this... not everyone has the same schedule... when you're free, let me know.
I'd like everyone to do it at their own spot, but that has been tried before. People cheat! They upload replays they found online, or put fake times... lol. Only one way to be sure. And it has to be done with a WHEEL. not a controller.

/\ /\ Im in Nippon. I needs to gets to praticing though. I haven't touched that wheel in a long time. Now if I can just get this negitive rep off my back then I would be all right. I am open not this weekend but the following one. This weekend a old friend of mine is coming down. Haven't seen him in a while. But Ill be praciting for you. :smackass: "Oh Im gonna beat his ass"

I loved GT. Played them all, but I'm done after reading this.
The microtransaction-focused game, Gran Turismo HD: Classic will be the online-focused entrant into the GT-series. In this game, players will (reportedly) start with no cars or courses available to them. Instead, they will need to purchase their stable of cars and courses to race on. The pricing reported in the Famitsu piece indicated that cars would cost between 50-100 yen ($0.43-$0.85) and courses between 200-500 yen ($1.71-$4.26). There are approximiately 750 cars and 50 tracks available for purchase in the GT: HD Classic. Let's do the math:

750 cars for $0.50-$1.00 (Sony (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3153775#) will round-up, don't you think?)
50 tracks for $1.50-$4.50 A complete copy of the game will cost gamers (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3153775#) somewhere between $426.50 and $975, and that's without factoring in whatever Sony decides to charge for the menus (since that's all you'll get with GT HD: Classic).

Some guys had a contest like a year ago to see who was the fastest around tskuba (best track on the game) With some rules, and a saved replay to prove the lap. I played forza for a couple hours and found it more fun to crash cars rather than actually race, the game was WAY easy. As far as auto racing GT series have always been the best and ahead of the game. Ridge racer and all the others are just a waste of time. Driving w/out any of the driving aids is the ONLY way to play.

But I thought Yamauchi wasn't going to go all the way through with that idea. Because Gran Turismo HD is a sperate game from the on going series. Now its just a demo that people can download to there PS3's. Thats why all the video's I see are just three different cars and all on one track. But holy shiv, it look beautiful.

ok. For clarity's sake...
They were going to release GT:HD as the next gran turismo. Instead, they decided to leave it as is, and begin production on a full scale GT.
Remember GT3 a few years ago? GT3 was actually an unfinished product. It was the prelude of GT4. GT4 was the culmination of GT3's R&D.
This goes the same with GT:HD. You can actually attain GT:HD via an online download. Dont know if its still on Sony's network but it was released as a "demo".
As far as GT5? There's no release date yet.
