When i shift into usually 3rd or 4th and i'm getting on it pretty hard, my rpms go way up and i have to let off before i can go any faster, like my clutch isn't disengaged.. (this is kinda hard to explain..) I think my clutch is going out... but someone told me it could be timing... just wanted to know what you guys thought... it's the original clutch at 96,000 miles... probably time for a new clutch...

thanks guys.

Yup sounds like your clutch is slipping. Time for a new one.

Are you chipped? If so try and go to one that is rated for more HP and TQ than a stock one. Thats prolly a good idea anyways. I think the ones for a Audi TT 225 will fit yours but I could be wrong as its been a while since I had a 1.8T but that should be able to hold up better than the original one.

OEM 1.8t clutch can hold fine unless you do BT... just make sure you break it in properly and aren't teaching people how to drive on it :D

it's an aba (2.0), so will the 1.8t clutch fit? i'm planning on chipping it pretty soon...

My OEm clutch said bye bye after the 20"s and all the bolt ons. more traction and more power sounds good, but it helps find weak links real fast.

yeah i'm planning on getting maybe an aftermarket stage 2 clutch, but if an oem audi or a stronger vw one will fit, i think i'll end up saving money that way... a chip is all i'm doing for a while, so i dont need it like super strong...

For some reason I thought you had a 1.8T. But Id still suggest some upgrade from stock if its already going out
