Is a heat gun the best way of doing this? I know it works wonders on graphics and stickers on my bikes. I just didntk now if there was a better way of doing this for tint. My car has gay blue tint on it..and I dont like it.

I dont have a heat gun, but being as the tint is so thin, would a hair dryer work?

Thanks

Heat would work better, but more than likely you're going to remove the film, but leave glue stuck on your glass. So afterwards, use finger polish remover to get the glue off.

or you can get a blade with a handle, and go at it...spray windex at the same time of scraping off...comes right off..glue and all...

or you could go to harbor freight and buy a heat gun. I got one for $10 from there. It gets hot enough to blister and remove the paint in my door jambs lol.

You can pull the film off by hand and use ammonia/water or soap and water mix for remove the adhesive using a razor blade.

You can use a heat gun to remove the film. Do not use a razor blade on your defrosters.

It's a PITA, but ammonia and blade will work.

Its not the whole car. Its just the hatch glass, and the 2 side glasses in the back.

Steam it off OR a Tint-off spray and heat gun, hair dryer on high may work as well...you don't want to use a razor on the rear window (rear defroster)

I've seen the tintdude at my work remove film with a hot fabric steamer machine like the one below. its quick, the glue stays with the film, and not on glass
and its safe on defrost/antenna glass

i usually use a steamer but amonia or windex with amonia will dissolve the glue.

steam is the safer more efficient way of removing the film without all the harmful chemical and fumes.

you said something about a blue tint? are you sure that it is after market tint. some new car have a blue hue to help with infrared heat absorption.

oh yea and if you do use a heat gun be careful, although your automotive glass is tempered and can still break due to heat stress.

Yeah, I know that. I used to have a giant "258" across the rear window of my EF Hatch. Along with my last name (258 is my riding number-motocross)

I heat gunned those stickers off. I didnt know about Tint. Being so thin i was afraid it might actually melt.
