my 1st dig. camera

thought i would post this here since this is where all the camera gods go. my birthday is sat. and im asking for a dig. camera i was wondering whats a good one to start out with. I saw one at walmart it was a kodak 8 megs. for 199.99 was thinking about telling my sister to get it for me what do you guys think a good one to start out is?

Sorry to break it to you, but wrong section. When buying a camera, you don't try to ger the most MP out of the cheapest price. You want to get a good quality camera that has the features that you think are going to be needed with the way you plan to use it (i.e. zoom, manual features, portability, ease of use etc...)
I would recoment to go to best buy or circuit city and as the people that work there, they can compare them side by side for you.

well I made the mistake of just buying a canon sd630, it was like 250, and a great little point and shoot. but then i found out i wanted more...Ended up buying a nikon D50, i love it. but still want a tad bit more. You need to ask yourself what you actualy want to do. Do you want something for taking pics of you and your freinds hangin out, to get quick shots. You taking pics of cars,landscapes, travel alot. Did you want something you can slide in your pocket? Also go to dpreview.com they have lots of info on the camera's you may be looking at.
