How long have been into car modifications? (inspired by Baby J)...

I don't know too many people that have been involved in modifying cars as long as I have, but how long have you been in? Honestly. I put my first aftermarket stereo in my car back in 1986. Spark-O-Matic. Lolol. Lowered my first car in 1987.

Been involved since 1987.....20 years now. Later, QD.

Since I was 16 when I had my first car, Every car I have had I had something done to it, But in '94 when I bought a Ford Spash Pickup, I went all out and made it into a show type truck, then traded it in for a Del Sol SI (DOHC) and got into performance and visual mods on that, then bought the civic and the rest is history

haha i'm not kidding either i gotta scan some lame poems and papers i wrote about my love for cars in school hahah shit was hilarious.... I was a car nerd like a mofo.
Avidly read road/track and car and driver... Always had the hugest sweet spot for muscle cars after meeting my friends dad... as a kid... he was into the whole f-body thing and i would be damn amazed.

then gran turismo came along on PS1 (which i bought the day it came out) for 54.99 (which was a SHITLOAD back then for a video game)
that game brought me more into imports than before...

but before the game, and after the game, my fav car was the z32 twin.... that was always the one import that i truly loved.

I'm 23 now. I've been into all my cars since I was 15. I too though WORKED with my dad doin his cars. I dont know the years but he had a monte carlo, malibu, and i believe a 79 Monza. I actually helped put a 350 in it! Since we did that, and he let me drive it. I fell in love with cars lol.

Actually turning wrenches on dad's chevelle since about 7 or 8. Had a junker 280z that I used to screw around with to get running at around age 14-15 with help from dad but I did the most work and research. On the cavy though I think the first installed mod was back in 01 or 02.

Well April 19th will be 11 years I have owned my CRX, and before that I had a modified Jeep for about 2 years, so about 13 years. Before my Jeep I had an 87 Plymouth Sundance Turbo, but none of the mods on that are worth talking about. :lmfao:

That would be when I was 15 and built my first truck with the help of my father of course. It was a 64' chevy truck. Built a 350 for it and swapped it in along with a TH350 in place of the inline 6 and 3 speed on the column. Had a wood bed I restored also. I remember being extremely proud of the custom roll pan I made with corvette lights. This was before you could buy a roll pan like this. Ended up painting it candy apple red.

Back in 1996 with me ES but with no internet like today, it was basic stuff. When I found Clublexus and met people with the cars back in 2000/2001, OMG I was hooked and that is when I got into JDM stuff somewhat and just more knowledgeable in general.

I have the UTMOST respect for those O.Gs that modded before me! Kudos to you all!

Well I have been doing this stuff all my life. I helped my grandfather rebuild a 455 in his Riviera. I can not for the life of me remember what year. I did more than hand him wrenches. I was about 10 then. I've rebuilt countless starters and alternators through the years. I've rebuilt brakes,carbs,and rearends with my grandfather. So I'm 35 now so I guess 25 years or so.
