Why is it that if you have scholarships, you don't get a large refund? I would think you'd get a large one since you have no money and need scholarships for college

Sadly, I owe the IRS $600.

Let's just say I let my mom do my taxes, she did them wrong. I was supposed to owe them $43. They gave me a nice little return, and now I owe it back.
