I have a couple questions and no dont bash me. The vehicle's i drive all have had insurance. I was wanting to get some info I cannot find on google.com

I'm wanting to buy a car, as a back up. Will sit in the drive way till i break something on my other car. Someone told me the DMV will fine you for a having a car sitting without insurance for a long time. Some b/s like this.

Could anyone verify this or point me in the right direction?

Lmk asap if yall can. Thanks in Advance.

Here's what you do. When you purchase the car, go to the local tag office. Get the car registered in your name, doing all the necessary things in order to do so. Tell them that the car is inoperable and that you will not be driving it. All you will do is sign a waiver stating this and you will pay just the ad valorem tax on it. You will NOT have a tag/sticker to drive with it and you will be ok. I have two cars that are like that right now. When you are ready to drive the car, go to the tag office(after you get insurance) and you will pay for the tag and be on your way. Later, QD.
