I agree. Sony has just pretty much killed Blue-Ray. This reminds me of the Betamax and VHS. Guess Sony is going to lose this one again. The porn industry is what decides the universal format, believe it or not.

People dont realize that, Guess HD DVD is the new standard. Sucks for all those spending big money on Blu Ray players

Some things (porn) are better left a little fuzzy (VHS). Do you really want to see the blemishes (pimples, stretch marks, etc) in high-definition? Trust me, after you see porn in HD or BluRay, you will long for the old 80s/90s porn (soft, fuzzy, no blems, almost airbrushed, etc).......

sony is fucking retarded... adult market is HUGE; this just forces them to use HD-DVD which is cheaper any way so this is actually a good move for us; we can get porn cheaper b/c shit normal dvd porn 25-40$ for the good shit... blu-ray would probably cost 50+ ;)

Yah, they really do like to shoot themselves in the foot - its just like the PSP. I can guarantee that at least 1/2 of the people who bought a PSP bought it to play the homebrew stuff like SNES emulators and such. But Sony has increased the security to PREVENT people from running such software with each release of a new firmware, which is necessary to play the newer games.

still too early to tell, ultimately, the blu-ray technology is more advanced than hd-dvd.

Doesn't matter if its more advanced or not. Once the standard is adopted, then HD-DVD can expand and get more advanced if it needs to. Right now you have to understand that the porn industry is leaning towards HD-DVD because of its low price and maximization of profits. I mean hell, the HD-DVD makers are practically giving the equipment away to the porn industry. Sony says, "No way man, we are not giving you ANYTHING."

Sony will never learn. I feel bad for all the PS3 users out there... bought a $600 useless gaming machine. At least Microsoft sells the HD-DVD as an optional piece of equipment and ultimately keeps the cost of their actual console down.

it does matter, hd-dvd can't just "expand" as u so easily put it. it's like the difference between dvd and vcd, sure there can be future versions of hd-dvd but as it sits now, hd-dvd is what it is and in a heads up competition against blu-ray, falls a little short.

either way though, it's way too soon to speak on what will happen down the road, and to say that ps3 owners shelled out cash on a "useless" gaming machine is a statement i can't quite buy into yet.
