OK the Tib got wrecked. No word on total or not but should be coming soon. Either way I am looking for either SUV or 4 door car to buy and leave stock and just drive a pay off. Well the SRT4 has crossed my mind. Its 4 doors, fast, manual trans, and better mpg than i get. Tib was only rated at like 19 city and 21 highway. I dont know that i can handle going from Sports cars to an auto SUV over night.
Anyways those of you with SRT4's, how many miles do you have and any problems so far? From my research ive learned the 04-05 have more power and LSD also. I just want one used and under $20k and 20k miles.
This is one i have found but it has higher miles than what i would like so thats y i ask. SRT4 (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?&default_sort=priceDESC&dealer_id=67568&end_year=2007&make2=&address=30047&start_year=1981&fuel=&keywordsrep=&certified=&car_id=210165044&search_type=both&max_mileage=&body_code=0&drive=&min_price=0&engine=&distance=25&transmission=&make=DODGE&keywordsfyc=&sort_type=priceDESC&num_records=25&ref=srl&car_year=2004&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=18&max_price=20000&advanced=&model=SRT4&color=&ref=srl#vdptop)

mine has 61K miles and I haven't had any problems yet. But I'm also the 2nd owner. Usually the only problem people have are the 3rd gear syncros tend to go out but there really aren't to many problems with them. Each power level there are things you would need to attend to, just do alot of research on the forums. There are plenty of SRTs that have hit the 100K miles marker and are still fine :goodjob:

ok i said i wouldnt mod, but lets face it i will a little. I probably would do intake and turbo timer atleast and then some window tint. I have been reading reviews and seems the only thing i see is people complaining of oil leaks and oil in the IM. I imagine a catch can would be a good purchase for these cars esp with a CAI?
I have an 05 with 3500 miles and zero problems. Of course, it only has 3,500 miles. Gas mileage is bitchin, I average 22 MPG all city, and that's not driving conservatively.

yup a catch can will fixed that problem. I'd also recommend PTP's check valve to go with that :goodjob:
I have had mine 4 months now and still loving it...not as sexy as the Tib but definatelly much faster and alot more roomy Jeremy...

i just need something that i can get better than 250 miles on a highway off 14.5 gallons of gas because i cant do it right now in the Tib
I would like SUV/Truck but at 19 or 20 mpg on the highway its just not a good idea plus SUV/Trucks run around 20k miles for around $20k but an SRT4 with 8K miles i can get for $18K soooo

SRTs are pretty much bullet proof. Just don't get a boost controller. Quick power for the dollar but hurts you in the long run. Thats the only reason I'm having to rebuild my engine, spiking 26psi setting to 19-21 on stock everything. Surging and all that good stuff. If I had been smart and built the motor instead of trying to get quick power of it, then I wouldn't have this problem. You can't go wrong with a cast iron block :goodjob:

I bought mine new back in June '05 and now its got over 65,000 miles on it. The only problem I ever had that was not my fault was the boost gauge. It crapped out. Other than that, nothing else.
My car averages around 31 mpg on the highway (33 mpg best recorded) when I don't get on the throttle. When I do get on the throttle, it drops down to around 26-28 mpg. I get around 25-28 mpg driving around and to/from work. Those numbers may be due to Highway 316 being my main way of commute pretty much everywhere I go. The worst tank of gas I ever got was 21 mpg and that was me playing at Atlanta Dragway with around 10 runs.
As far as getting an aftermarket intake, since you said you aren't going to do much to the car, I would just save the money and get a drop in filter instead. The stock airbox is good for up to 400 hp and having just an intake will not do much but set you back a couple bucks. I've hit 12.2 in the 1/4 and trapped up to 118 mph with my stock airbox on.
As far as catch cans go, you can read about it on the SRT Forums since it is kinda a heated debate and make your choice. I opted to go without a catch can. As some people have said, if the SRT engineers thought that the car needed one, they would've had one on the car from the factory. I haven't heard of a SRT-4 with a gunked up IM yet. If my IM does gunk up, the IM is pretty easy to pull off so it would not be a problem. Also, the SRT engineers say that catch cans are potential fire hazards.

Now thats some good info ^^
Of coarse the gf isnt ok with the SRT4, she wants me to grow up and get an SUV and she thinks if i get an SRT4 i will just blow my money on it. I asked her what do you think i will do with 4x4 SUV (most likely a jeep brand) leave it stock height and normal tires? No matter what, i will never drive just a stock car, even if its the smallest of mods i will do it. Just going from a modified Tiburon 5spd to an auto SUV is a big jump IMO and i know i will just end up missing a car. Atleast with 4 door car i can hold more people. I am going to look at one this weekend.

by drop in filter u mean a good K&N or Fram filter to fit in the stock air box? I really dont want to do much to the car (for now). After all i spent on the tib and some of the parts barely used a month it sucks to sell them all and not even come close to making my money back on some of them.

She's right. I bought my srt thinking: "hmmm, It's already quick stock, so I won't have to mod it." Two days later I had already ordered lowering springs, stage 1, and an exhaust.:D
Do I have any regrets? Nope...

Yeah he is talkin about an K&N filter
As far as mods, if you don't wanna spend to much but have a fun car. Here are a few things that will help you out and aren't to expensive
K&N Filter $50
AGP Wastegate Actuator around $175 (set boost spike 18 for an 04)
Mapclamp, don't remember the price but they are pretty cheap, under $100
3" Exhaust $300-800, depends on what you want
Then you'll have a reliable DD and something to have fun with on the weekends

Dont get one if you dont have the money to build it right. You figure Stage 3 $3700. Dont buy anything else or its a waste of cash, UNLESS you build for longevity power. I had EVERY supporting mod before I touched the turbo or boost levels. Now I have spent more than $3700..lol but you will not ever be satisfied till you put down 400WHP..That I promise you..Only complaint THE FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS SUCK SHIT! Axles, on my 3rd set, wheel bearings and hubbs, lower control arms, ball joints, clutch..replaced it all and a shop even pulled the tranny for no reason
Always remember its a Dodge Neon..never loose focus of that...but I have always enjoyed minez!

Many people are putting out over 400hp,on a stock engine, with no problem..Tuning is the key...

And you cant tune unless you have a way to add more fuel, air, boost without F'ing up the stock ECU and vac selinoids and once you remove those you have to have a map clamp and boost controller and without fuel you will kill it and without a bigger turbo you cannot get close to 400 soooooo yeah lil more than tuning my friend!
Plus Still doesnt change the fact the front suspension blows.....

The srt4 only has a 12.5 gallon gas tank, and I often get 250 miles at the 10-10.5 galon mark. I have gotten as good as 25mpg city, but then again, I have a big turbo and don't spool instantly all the time either.

He never said anything about additional mods, he said stock block. And as you know, there are many srt-4 with over 400hp on the stock block. Tuning is the key. Also, stock suspension all around is not great, change it out, my is kick ass now, but then again, its all been changed. BTW, I have 400hp...stock block, and shit loads of mods.

im just so afraid that ill buy a truck and be like "damn this bitch is slow.." atleast a srt4 is 4 doors...
basically the whole situation is the tib is to small. I need something bigger. Then in about a yr and half my gf graduates college (yeah ill still be going online class's) and we plan to move in together. Im trying to plan a little ahead and say if i get SUV/truck now ill use it more when we move to move furniture and crap with or just screw it and good with speed and fun.. tough call to make because all that is very possible to happen but its theoretical

have you thought about gettin a quick truck? You can get the best of both worlds. A lightning sounds like something you would beneift more from, minus the gas mileage.

Yep, the silver one with the carbon wing is mine. I went last time, but I am driving from southern Alabama so it about a 4 hour drive. I got to varsity just as you guys left last time. I am not going to be able to make it at all this time. I just started a new job, and I am feeling very behind.
As far as wich car to buy. I would take the srt-4, but only if that what YOU want. I agree on not letting the women influence your purchase. Good luck with your choice.

well i got time to think. Somehow my Tiburon is valued at $15,025 (hell if i know how) retail value and the damages thus far is $7,792.15 and they say an est repair time of 3 weeks... So ill do my shopping, find me a car and as soon as they give it to me ill drive it from the body shop to the dealer to trade. Some days i think truck (i am 6'5" 250 lbs) and then somedays its like SRT-4 calls my name... its fast stock, 4 doors, decent mpg. I did the math and i was getting somewhere 15.5 and 17.2 mpg with the Tib.
Just got to figure out how well i fit in an SRT-4 now

to bad you can't come out to the meet. That would be the best way to see what different things you can do to the SRT such as looks and performance. If you have any questions just PM me or chad and we'll both be glad to answer them the best we can. Good luck!
