A friend of mine is giving me a 87 Corolla FX (non gt-s) 5 speed that runs. I would like to make a little drift project out of it. What all would you suggest doing?

put 31"s on the back and a 250 shot of nitrous, run off a cliff and hope the 31"s last on the ride down

Ahh gotcha. I figured it was RWD similar to the 86 corolla gt-s. Nvm then. What would you suggest other than a DD?

From what I gather, you could probably swap out the SOHC engine for a FWD 4A-GE and make a mean autocross car out of it. Take a look to see what suspension components are available for it. Good luck! :goodjob:

Looks like an old-school Civic to me.

Exactly. Thanks for giving me a straight-forward answer and not being sarcastic due to lack of knowledge. +1 :goodjob:

Exactly. Thanks for giving me a straight-forward answer and not being sarcastic due to lack of knowledge. +1 :goodjob:No problem. I did a quick google search and it looks like the car came available with two seperate engines. Seeing as how yours is a base FX, it should have the SOHC 1.6L Carburated 8-Valve engine. The FX16 came with, I believe, the DOHC 1.6L Fuel Injected 16-Valve. Not sure if it was a 4A-F or a 4A-GE series engine though. Also, keep in mind that my info is coming off of other websites so they could be off too. I think they're at least pretty close though. :dunno:

Either way, I wouldn't think that swapping in a 20-Valve 4A-GE engine would be too tough. Whatever you decide to do, be smart about it and good luck. :goodjob:

Also, I found this for you...

Website w/ Engines for Purchase: http://www.rpmrons.com/Toyengines.html

Maybe they can help you out. :)

you could do a 4age or even a 4agze into it and have a fun car. it would be alot of wiring though to convert to fuel injection.
