I guess I should step in on this thread...

As many of you may remember, we tried throwing a show last year around this time. Unfortunately, the show was a flop as the school we were trying to raise money for (Pope High School) was unwilling to help us out and provide us with things we were told we would be supplied. Due to this, AudioTrix's DB meter could not work properly, and we had to move the sound competition to their shop a few miles up the street. In addition, we learned (as it was our first show) that there was alot more to a show than what we had imagined, not to mention the icey-ass cold rain that hit us all through the morning. Well, we sagged our heads and dropped our tails.

We did some thinking and want to try to do this again with a better host where AudioTrix can hook up the DB meter. Hooters is working to provide food and help out with a raffle, and our club is trying to plan a little bit better. We're looking to earn a reasonable reputation for hosting shows. We're taking our experience of our last flop to try to make this better.

Improvements we're trying out this year:

-Classes will probably be somewhat simple and few in numbers. This will knock out the complication of trying to figure out exactly what class your car will be in, and will prevent us from having more trophies than we do cars (as you may remember from last year).

-We're pulling off a cheaper event. We're doing this as cheaply as possible, and is not for the profit of our club, but simply enough to cover what it will cost US to put the show on... This show is about building reputation. Not our bank. Nor anyone else's. We have alot of help coming from different directions to pull this off (To mention, AudioTrix and Hooters to name specifically)

-We're currently trying to find voluntary, experienced judges as show-goers were unhappy with our judging last year. We're trying to find experienced judges that know a little better what to look for, and we hope to prevent unsatisfied competitors. We don't expect to please everyone, but to do better than we did last year. Also, if you know of anyone who would be willing to help judge, we would love to see what we can do. Please contact me via PM

-This year, we WILL NOT be tolerating anyone doing burnouts or donuts. We've considered a burnout contest, but there are WAY too many complications to have one, and it's WAY too dangerous with WAY too many stupid drivers. If you attempt this, you will be asked to leave.

-This year we will also NOT be tolerating exhaust "sound-offs". If someone comes up, asks to hear what you're exhaust sounds like, sure. But will NOT tolerate pointless sound-offs every 10minutes. Again, you will be asked to leave if you continue without reason.

-This year the same rule (from above) applies to audio systems. If someone asks to hear it, it will be allowed, but not for long any length of time. (obviously, we will try to work with those that are actually running in the audio competition) There will most likely be a DJ there at the event who will provide entertainment. Again, you will be asked to leave if you continue to do so without reason.

-Everyone was hungry as shit last year. To help this problem, we've got a good food provider that'll be serving great food. They know we're coming, so they'll have plenty of food, and will have a full staff on hand. Hooter's has one hell of a buffalo chicken sandwhich (3 mile island. If anyone's had it, you know what I mean :goodjob: )

With all this said, I hope to see our reputation come up, and I hope to see several of you at the show. I'm also looking to meet many new people and to, more than anything else, have a good time.

If you have any further advice, tips, suggestions, or comments, please feel free to PM me or post them in this thread. Anything will be taken into consideration and we'll do what we can to make this a good and simple show.

Thanks, everyone!

One thing that pisses off alot of people showing their car is this.
If the club that is hosting the show walks away with all the awards, well it seems very one sided and not fair to the other competitors. Most of the show I have attended, the hosting club was not allowed to get judged. I saw this at a show last year and people were mad as hell cause most of the winners were in the club putting the event on.

So if you want to keep it fair, that is just my opinion on that issue. I am sure other people will feel the same way about it as well.

Other than that....HOOTERS is the ultimate place for a small show.....I love me some HOOTERS wings. 911 and 3 Mile Island (you are a wuss if you can't handle the heat).

My apologies. What I meant by we had many of them was that there were many trophies left over because we had more trophies than we had cars. My club was NOT judged. We lined our cars up off to the side. It'll be the same at this show. We MAY be competing in sound. Numbers aren't biased, but if the other competitors feel it is not fair, we will not run in sound competition either.

I knew what you were talking about when you said you had trophys left over. I have been to many shows where that happened. Its from expecting more than what you got. I completely understand that situation.

I think I will try to make it to this show.....if I have my new wheels by then. I am sure I will, but you never know what can pop up.

haha, I know that more than anyone I know...

We were supposed to actually have many more than showed, but we got some seriously cold rain, but by the time it hit, many people were already headed here from south of atlanta. I hated to let them down, but I think it would have been better to just shut the show down anyways...which is most likely what we'll do this year. If there's chance of rain, we already have a rain date. The call will be made the night before teh show if it's going to be cancelled...

Come out no matter whatcha got. Just come for the fun and the buffalo! ....and the tits...

Here's my write up for the evening, please disregard the top pictures. SELOC had a busy day. It was a great time. Thanks to everyone who was a part of this. Organizers, Sponsors, Attendees, Spectators. Weather could have cooperated a little more but other than that no complaints.

Well, the day started off to a slow start but the Asian Mafia eventually got together and met at Dave & Buster’s of Gwinnett before our arrival at the Joker Bash 07’ at Hooter’s of Canton. The intention was to roll in 3 deep. Patrick (Matrix), Shin (IS300), and myself (GS300). At D&B was supposedly a bike photo shoot. Let’s just say we soon found ourselves doing a photo shoot. Bing (GSX-R 750) and Omar (GSX-R 600) arrived shortly after we did in true tribal fashion. These are a few shots we took before we were informed of the new location for the shoot.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/CarbonGS/2-24-07%20Joker%20Bash/2-24-07JokerBash5.jpg

We rode over to the other side of the parking lot to get Bing and Omar squared away with the models. Wow, I couldn’t even take pics because of some of the “positions” that were entailed during their shoot. I’ll leave it up to your imagination to figure out what that means. These guys still have reputations to uphold. So, during that process we, being the three that drove cars, piled into the IS300 and made our way to the closest fine dining restaurant, McDonald’s!!! lol. On the way there we saw a HONDI! Oh yes you heard me right! A HONDI. “What exactly is a HONDI?” you might ask. Well, a HONDI is a late 90’s Civic with an Audi emblem on the grille! Such a pity that I left the camera in my car during this food drive. On the way back we nearly got hit by an Audi who was reversing into onward traffic. Wow! Just Wow!

Well, after chomping down on the goods we got back in our cars and bikes and took the hour long drive up to Canton’s Hooter’s to attend the show! Here are my pics from the event. I believe that there were only two classes. Show Import and Show Domestic. From what the other members tell me I took home 1st place Import! YES!!! I had to leave early due to a fine date with my special lady! Bing, Shin, and Patrick were all team players and troopers since they stayed behind and made sure that all was taken care of. Thanks Guys! I owe you one! (An XL-Bowl of Pho)!!! Until next time enjoy the following pics.

Thanks again to all of those who came out to represent us at the show!
1. Bing
2. Patrick
3. Shin
4. Mike
5. DSouth (a member from clublexus) who almost hit my car!

Yeah it was a pretty good show. One thing that pissed off a few people though, was the Hooters Choice award. Pretty messed up that it went to the Zeypher on Dubs, nice car, but the owner was a friggin HOOTERS GIRL. That right there is uncalled for. She should not have been eligible to get that prize.

First in db if it was a corvette was Cam Farris. He's not on here, but he's one of the lead guys from Joker Performance. Normally a club (JP included) will not allow it's cars to compete in shows that it's hosting. However, numbers DO NOT lie, and are not biased. (just a safety in case anyone wants to flog Joker Performance for allowing one of its cars to run)

Also, yeah, I think it's crap that the Hooter's girl's car won the hooters choice award, but at the same time, rules are rules...the hooters girls were allowed to pick any car on the lot. No rule was set that a hooter's girl's car COULDN'T be selected for this...however, who would have thought a hooter's girl would have a car that looked like that? That and straight up...she was FIIINE.

Moving on, I'll advise in the planning of the next show that no hooter's girl's cars can be selected for the Hooter's Choice.

i took 3rd with 138.6 and i think the vette got 1st not sure? Cool, just curious though, how many watts were you guys running on your systems? I am trying to ge ta base line of mine cause I hit 136.8 and I might enter another show that will actually have wattage classes.

He got first for his class...I think there were like 3 classes in db drag? I dont know if there were enough for 3 classes. If so does anyone have a full list of the winners of the awards? I left right after my second run thats why I am asking.

I'll see if they recorded who or what won what... And I agree, there probably weren't enough for three classes, but it'd be unfair to put a 8" sub against a 12"...

As for he who asked about wattage-ratings...it's not always about watts. Keep in mind the cabin space, direction, location, box space, and provided-power (power the alternator/battery can keep flowing) also play a part..it's hard to judge. I think most of the guys were around 1000 watts. I'll ask the vette guy how much he was putting out.

Is that RMS or peek power cause my amp is 1000 watt but it RMS at about 300 per channel, I think.

i only had one 12 runnin 500 rms. im pretty sure i was the only person with a single sub. I do aree that there werent enough people in the sound compitition to realy split it up into all the different classes. They did a good job with what they had

HA! You owe me MAD repps for this...
You can get out of it saying by "Yes, my suspension is altered, but it does not exceed the limitation or 2" as covered under code 40-8-6 of Georgia State Law".

You may also wanna fancify him by saying your headlights are also within the height limitations of more than 24" and no more than 54" high

Here's your law..

No problem, man. I got in so much trouble with cops when I was younger that I said fuck it and started learning the law. I've had a few opportunities where a cop would pull me over for something, call me out on it, and I'd say "actually sir, I'm within the regulations because of...." or whatever the case may be, and I've received all kinds of responses from "Wow...so you'v ebeen pulled over for this before" to "are you studying law?" to even "Oh...well, yeah, I guess you're right" and it's got me out of a few tickets. Learning the law helps in SO many ways. Cops give hundreds of tickets that aren't legit yearly simply because people refuse to do the research on their own laws...
